The morning show… Good morning on Sunday ©sueromeiser

Well as you know we all (well most of us) watch the morning show to give us an insight into our day and to inform ourselves about the events around the world.

As a gal who loves to watch TV and keep herself informed in these trying times, I have started to watch the morning show. There I sit in my living room with my trusty zapper in my hand and I zap through the channels in the hope to find a program that would interest me. I mean really there are the business programs reporting to us the latest stock market activity… Which again this jargon can be really confusing and sending my brain spinning…. OMG!!! What are those people talking about???? I need help just understanding the whole thing. Plus, the events like crimes and such about how the bad people in the world do bad things to other people…. That is really sad, if you ask me… What is the world coming to????

Then comes the tidbits about what is going on in the world of entertainment …. NOW …. That’s for me… seeing all those stars and getting a glimpse into their everyday lives. I mean really what those people are up too and what kind of houses they live in… it is just an OMG moment!!!!

After a few commercials which offer me the opportunity to spend my money on things that I don’t need… I love commercials… There was one for some gardening stuff… Garden here I come, and it is true that gardening season is starting… Folks get out there and get that garden in order, now you have time…. At least I do!!

Thank goodness the commercials are over and I can finally get down to watching some serious television where the presenters talk about all kinds of stuff were they try to make the viewer feel like they are sitting with them on the hosts sofa presenting their show…. I wonder how much money those presenters make???? Maybe I should apply for a job as a morning TV host…… There are bright colored letters is my name and the world can sit in front of their tv’s and watch me present them the morning show…. WOW!!!!!! Stardom here I come….

I am getting bored watching tv because I normally don’t watch soooooo much tv, so maybe I should do something else???? Like go for a walk and get some fresh air or like I read the other day, which I found really interesting, learn something new while you have the time now instead of vegetating at home doing nothing…. Those are really great tips and can be fun too! Thanks to those TV folks for inspiring me!!!

So, to all those morning TV show fans…. Enjoy your morning show and as they say…. Stay tuned for the next episode… Have a great day!

Brighten your day with a bit of “Techi Talk”

Hi friends out there who need a bit of a laugh for today! I hope this brings a smile to you face from a repost of mine.

“Techi Talk” Posted on August 10, 2017 by sueromeiser©

Today with all these new techi computer words floating around I wonder what else they could mean besides there computer meaning and as a gal who isn’t always up to date in the world of computers and only recently being exposed to wonders of modern technology, I must say I was fascinated as to how I could translate those words into totally everyday means………

So, I thought I would give it a go and maybe you can relate to some of the translations too……..

API – always people interfere (You know the problem when you are trying to do something.)

Boot – sorry I only have one and lost the other boot. Bad if the weather isn’t so good outside.

Cloud- look up into the sky and see the wonders of nature

Chrome- Normally used as a plating for metal, but what do I know……..

Dialer – wasn’t that the thing on the telephones from yesteryear??

FAT – Find any things? This is good when looking for something

Gnome – that thing that was popular one time that lots of people had in their gardens or on their lawns…..

Hardware – something you do need when doing repairs around the house, and then you need to go to the hardware store to get the stuff you need to fix-up whatever you are fixing-up……. Makes sense????

HTML – How that much liked??? There you got it when wanting an opinion; just ask HTML….
Key- Something I need to get into my house

Laptop – That word is ,well how can I say it…… Sounds dated for computer words

Malware – That can happen when you get moles in your garden and they ruin everything, then you got a serious case of Malware!

MSP- This is a word to watch-out for ( Many serious problems) because it does direct one in a some what negative direction, but not really saying anything about what the problem is, so MSP it next time you have some issues.

Open office – the good old open office plan that has been around for years with everyone working in the same room together….OMG….. no thank you!

Plug in – easy plug the plug in the socket…. it couldn’t be any simpler.

Pop up – that happens when you put bread in the toaster to be toasted and when it is done being toasted it pop’s-up

PDF – oh, an office nightmare….Photocopier Doesn’t Function

QNX – now here you need a bit of imagination: Quite Normal Expressions; when translated into computer lingo means nothing is new.

Root – every plant has this… nothing new

Server- those folks must have gotten this inspiring word while they were drinking a coffee at a coffee shop and a server served them.

USB – Again a fascinating word : Underlying useless business….. This does happen in the business world,so be careful not to waste your time.

Virus – bad news with winter coming in a couple of months there are always lots of these in the air,so take care.

Wine – Tastes good sometimes with meals and come in different colors too.

Zip – those are on many jackets and other garments worn.

Now after translating these wonderful words you now may be better able to understand the other meanings as to how we non computer professional can keep up with the world of words today.

Computer folks keep those great words coming… GWC for now!

Ahoy….. My life’s an App Mar 5, 2012©

Though in these trying times one must stay focused and have a sense of humor, so I thought it would be fitting to bring a bit a humor into our dull home office days by reposting an old post from a couple of years ago. Enjoy and I hope it brings a smile to your face.

My life’s an app Mar 5, 2012©

Remember the days when you used to use your brain to think and answer questions when someone asked you something, and now-a-days the brain seems to be a stagnating mass within your head.

I can remember when you read something about something and actually remembered it or if you didn’t you could look it up in an encyclopedia and there you found the answer to your question and all this without an app.

I think back and ask myself: “How did I ever manage to get through my day without an app?” And the funny thing is I am still here and my brain still works without an app and I can remember information. I do not want to get addicted to an app. What happens if it is wrong? Then what do I do? Has anyone thought about that or are they trying to invent an app for that?

The other day at work we got talking about the world and stuff like that and one of my colleagues asked me what the longest river in the world was. ( I knew they wanted to see if I could manage without an app.)I answered without hesitating – the Nile and 2nd is the Amazon and 3rd is the Mississippi. Of course no one believed me and they said “well let me check this out because I have an app that will give us the answer.” I thought to myself “ok”.
Well low and behold I was right, and I knew this and the information came directly from my brain cells. Amazing things brain cells. Those babies can really remember things and process information and help you with all sorts of things and this all without an app!

Sorry, got side tracked there with my brain cells. My colleagues then asked me another question and I was right again and then they got a bit sarcastic and said that I must sit home every evening and read up on such stuff. I had to laugh at that and said they maybe should read something and not always be dependent on an app.

Everywhere you turn there are these bloody things.

Apps for weather – as if I can’t look out the window and see if it’s raining or not.

Apps for your wardrobe – it’s a sad day when I can’t figure out what to wear from the clothes that I have hung in my closet.

Apps for a coffee shop – what happened to asking someone where a good coffee shop is? An app can’t know this or do apps drink coffee secretly?

Apps to locate you – I don’t want everyone to know when I am sitting on the throne or is that important information for everyone?

And those are just a few. I could write a list that would be endless and that I don’t want to do.

I was actually thinking about creating a group called “ I want to keep my brain and not let it turn into an app.” Though I don’t think that many people would be interested in my group because everyone is busy with their apps trying to find out about the group and then only to be disappointed by saying that this group doesn’t have an app and that we use our brains and communicate with each other the old-fashioned way by talking to each other (those were the days!).

Try going through your day without an app and I bet you can have some fun.

Re-decorating on a Budget

Most of us know that we have to keep an eye on how much money we spend on decorating or better said redecorating. And so, with the help of my trusty companion the internet to direct me in the right direction or soooo I hope???

Well, there I landed on a Website that really caught my eye. They used this sticky plastic stuff and transformed their kitchen in a jiffy, and it didn’t look too bad either…. Though when I went to my local DIY to check-out that product, it wasn’t as cheap as they mentioned on the internet. I guess that has to do location???

Then I wandered over to the paint section (This idea stems from online, too) The wonders of modern technology are amazing, but at the same time how much is true??? Anyway, there was this idea of using the color of “gray” throughout the house to reduce the need to clean so often…,. No comment from my side here!!!

Colors may hide the fact that I haven’t dusted in a week or so but the thought of it and the possibility that someone my stop by wearing white gloves and doing a “white glove test” on my furniture just is toooooo much for me!!

Image someone like that stops by your place and you aren’t prepared for the “white glove test” then what …. You got it!!! Posted immediately online and everyone in your neighborhood knows that you don’t dust regularly… That’s a OMG moment … to say the least and your reputation is ruined!!!
In that case then no gray tones in my house so as to hide the dust. NO THANK YOU!!!

But what I am not too sure about is using that sticky plastic stuff behind my stove top or sink… I cannot image that it would adhere to the wall that long, but than no one asked me.
I need to look more before I start to re-decorate… Another tip (hack) was vintage or like it used to be called “used furniture” or “antiques” …. All the same stuff at the end of the day. Only the price plays a role and what are you looking for.

Vintage furniture sounds like it could be somewhat special with a bit of a flare from when it was “in” back then when I was a kid or “antique” sound like it is something really expensive and really has that style that could be emulated in a country home.

This whole idea seems to be getting out of hand here with re-decorating and the more I look around the more I am happy with what I have. So, I can stick to my budget too.

Enjoy what you have and if you are re-decorating… Enjoy!

Time

Time you all know this word and probably think to your self what the heck is she going to write about here??? Exactly … Time… not the magazine but “time” itself.

There is “on time”, “in time”, “just in time” and so on. Have you ever thought about how many times a day you use the word time? I bet not, well I have because “time” is a good word, which means everything nowadays in society.

Looking back when I heard the sentence “My how time fly’s” I thought what a joke, and who ever thought up that sentence, was old fashioned. Okay, nowadays you would say “how vintage” …. I need to keep-up with the times. Right?

My how times have changed, too. Or Have they really changed that much? Not really in the past few years. But time is a precious thing which should be appreciated in some way or another. Okay enough philosophical nonsense here with good ol-time.

This time I was thinking about something else.

Like procrastinating is a great time killer and you know exactly what I mean here, too. We all do it when we don’t feel like doing something, but maybe some people are better at it than others.

Recently, since spring is here and the yearly calling of “Spring Cleaning” popped-up again…. Who ever thought of that is not my friend (or maybe they would like to pop by and spend some time clean-up my place?… If so, please let me know! Thanks) because this time of year is not for cleaning, okay maybe the windows so I can see what is going on outside, otherwise, things haven’t changed since the last season’s clean-up.

It seems the real change is the new spring wardrobe and this time I am not too sure what has changed??
But I was informed that this season’s sneakers should be “White”, because that is in… My golly that color has been around for a long time. The young sales assistant persisted on telling me how great the color white is for sneakers and that it was never in before.
I mean really, just by looking at me she could see that I was over (let’s say over 25). But it never occurred to her, until I said that “I think this color has been around for years even for sneakers.”
That comment didn’t go over too good with the young girl who apparently wasn’t trained to deal with customer like me. But who cares!

I left the shoe store and bee lined for the next shoe store to get a real overview of the current sneaker season situation… This time I needed facts and wanted to see a store that offered a larger range. There must have been at least 100 pairs of sneakers in white. How many feet do I have… Exactly 2, and when would I have the time to wear them all?

It was/ is only the spring collection and not the summer or any other season!!! Though I will admit a couple of pairs caught my eye, but not enough to buy them… But what was good after I left the shoe store there was an ad from a well- know online store; which had written on its “electronic billboard” (energy saving-Ahoy!) Back to the wording: They advertised: “Sneaker”

Don’t we normally wear sneakers? Or am I missing something here this time or is it so that people only buy one sneaker now and the other foot is without a sneaker??? I would like an answer to this from the online platform, please!

After reading that I had to laugh to myself about how many more times will I see this ad? Don’t answer!
Now a time later it was/is spring sale time for all these great sneakers and other items which I am not too sure who will buy them?? We don’t even have summertime yet.

Boy how seasons are flying by. I need time to think about all this and wait for the next time the season’s fashions change again.

Now it is time to bring this to an end. Enjoy your time with whatever you do!

The Replacement

Sometimes life changes and things get replaced around the house and no one ever takes into consideration the many years of faithful service the appliances have brought into your life let alone the joys and maybe even the sorrows too.

A good friend of mine informed that she will be buying a new stove for her kitchen. Sure, you’re thinking big deal or great, it’s about time she did. But have you ever thought about what that stove did for her in the past? I bet not! Or even your own stove that you own.

Well this little event got me thinking about my stove, and I will admit that it is a trusty friend in my household and a real lifesaver too. Though I will admit we have had our stressful moments together too, when (I hate to admit it) when I forgot something cooking on the stove top and then there is the smell of something burning or boiling over and I think something nasty and think “great, it’s ruined now”! I am sure you all know this feeling????

But, there are the great smells too, that smell of something wonderful cooking on the stove top and you can’t wait to eat it because it smells so good and the same hold true for the aroma of something yummy baking, roasting, grilling or whatever coming from the oven.

My oven and I have had some challenges through the years to put it nicely. Like the time the oven seemed to shrink because the turkey I bought was to big for the oven. That darn oven seemed to shrink in size over night and I didn’t even notice it. (my gosh I was a bit upset to say the least!!!)

Or there was the time the oven seemed to develop a nasty phase and whenever I popped something into the oven it burnt for whatever reason… Okay, maybe I wasn’t paying attention or was distracted, but I am sure to this day that it was the ovens fault! Or the time (some of you may have experienced this too??) you pop the dinner into the over to cook for your guests who are coming over and for some unexplainable reason the oven isn’t turned on when you check the food one hour later and wonder what has happened here????? A mystery beyond belief……

Then there’s the nasty trick that the oven tries… You pop the food in the oven and somehow the oven gets tooooooo hot and the food burns and bellows out smoke and has a smell of burn food… That is an OMG moment!!! Now what ?????

But through all those trying times with its ups and downs my stove has been a faithful companion in my life and I think we should all be appreciative of the appliance even when it is being replaced, because the old stove also has memories attached to it too and they can be many happy moments in our life and we never really take the time anymore to think about all those great times!

So, before you pop something into the oven or cook something on your stovetop remember those great times associated with your stove. Have a great time cooking !!!

What to write and what to say…..

Have you ever thought really thought about the sentence “ I have nothing to say?” I bet not… Many people have nothing to say but never say that sentence and instead repeat the same old story thousands of time until the listener says something. I have nothing against hearing things a couple of times but after that it gets boring and I would rather hear “ I have nothing to say or there is nothing going on in my life at the moment”…. Okay I know it sounds like you could be a boring person, if not seen as a loser…

Nowadays, we have to be active, always on the go and able to show off something cool going on in our lives… When do these people take a break or have a life??? Sometimes I would love to ask these people and I wonder if they are happy with themselves too??? Anyone out there know the answer??

Writing too is an issue, what to say and what to write about that will maybe interest someone out there and not bore you or put you to sleep while you are reading… Then I am a real loser or bore at best!!! But who cares, I’ll just jabber away here and write about whatever pops into my mind…

Okay… And not worry about my summer figure, losing weight, make-up tips or how I will look in the latest fashion fad or the other must haves that others think I need in my life…. Because these are the most common tops that are repeated each day and year for us gals to read about and somehow that has become boring for me to read about… Life is how it is and I will carry on with how things are.. Bad figure, out of date fashion( okay..Vintage now), and vintage make-up tips and it still seems to fit in somehow… The surprising facts that I would have never thought about until I started writing here… Inspiration comes in various ways….

So, inspire yourself today and have fun and don’t worry about being a bore either!!

A little memory ..

Winter is still here and many of us as adults cannot wait for it to be over, so you won’t have to shovel the snow, worry about getting to work on time or simply being snowed in… The view of snow changes with age as many people have told me. I like snow, but still only a certain amount of it, so that makes me as bad as the next person….

But as a kid I never thought about snow that way.. it was simply great no worries, no shoveling, or at least limited shoveling… toboggining, and so forth. A day outside in the snow was simply great to a certain extent!!

Or to top that, a snow day… No school and I could stay home for the day because there was too much snow… A real drag from my mom , because that put a damper on here daily routine to say the least, and no time for coffee with friends, talking on the phone, NO… I was there and demanded attention or to be entertained would be a better choice of words. No daytime TV, no computers… Just simple everyday amusement… Go outside and find something to do, was my mom’s motto and take care… Of what I never knew?? and nor did I ask either….
I just got dressed and went outside…

Though getting dressed to go outside in the snow did require some planning and time too…. Firstly, was my snowsuit dry from yesterdays excursion outside and were my boots dry??? Major concerns for me when I really needed an excuse why not to go outside… And my mom seemed always to be prepared with dry clothes and boots, so as to set me on my way in the perils of winter…. I must say I was not the only kid around in this position… All moms sent their kids outside no matter what the weather conditions were and we were outside for hours running around getting up to something but nothing bad…

Then after we were turning blue from the cold we all seemed to be magically called inside so as not to freeze our back-sides off and have something warm to eat and drink before the next artic expedition in the afternoon… Where we could spend another couple of hours killing time, because we were too tired from the morning round of activities and all the moms were the same…. Kids outside now !!! Then we walked around, hung out in someone’s garage so as not to get too cold or hoped to find a friends mother who felt sorry for us out in the sub zero temperatures ( not really true but it felt like that.)
No sympathy and so we dragged ourselves around until we could go inside for the day and then the great question “ Did you all have fun outside together?”… Really now, standing or walking around in the cold was not our idea of having a great time together and nor did mothers understand this…

But after peeling off all the layers of clothing and looking as though I had been to the artic and back I simply appreciated being inside… And the thought of the next day’s adventures in the snow seemed like a great idea too, because it was something we looked forward too.

Enjoy the snowy weather no matter what age you are!

Ketchup and Co……

As you may already know there are lots of things around that you can hold your ketchup in….. An amazing fact that may not be new to you……

But have you heard about the handy condiment holder for the air-vent of your car??? I bet not… and if you have; I bet you have already rushed out and bought one?
Well, as I see it, it’s a must have for 2018 for your car by adding that bit of latter-day charm to modern-day living……just attaching this little holder to the air-vent brings a whole new look to my car let alone being functional too.

And as a gal who is out and about quite a bit; my ketchup won’t spill all over the seats nor on the dashboard…even though I am not one to eat and drive. The esthetics alone are the conversation maker….
There I was driving down the street over to a friends house the other day and I told my friend in advance about that nifty little ketchup thing… and she was almost beside herself with excitement wanting to see the ketchup holder which she and my other friends didn’t have… plus this thingy is not exclusively limited to holding condiments either… What else I am not sure, but I’ll think of something and let you know. That is if you really want to know???

As soon as my friend got into my car she screamed out OMG wow, that’s really cooool!!! I knew that I had impressed her, and she took a couple of pictures of it and posted them on all her social network sites, so that the world could admire my newest thing that I bought that I didn’t need…. Don’t tell my friends that!!!

On the way to our destination to the shopping mall……We want to shop till we drop!!! Remember that saying??? We stopped at a fast-food place to order a takeaway, so that we could try out the new ketchup holder; an event to be videoed and uploaded… Not to be missed; this award-winning event!!!

Now with our fast-food in our hands I maneuvered the car into a parking spot and placed the ketchup into the holder, a sight to behold and you missed out…. It was just so exciting and then we decided to be brave and drive down the street and eat the French-fries at the same time, but then it happened….I had to break hard and you can guess what happened????
The ketchup in the holder spilled into the air-vent and flew everywhere else in the car too, making for a disappointing experience with my new ketchup holder that I was so proud of… But who cares! I pulled over to the side of the road and cleaned-up the mess, simple as that….
Though to be honest I do have some thoughts about later on, and that the car could smell like ketchup… Though when the heat is on full and there I am driving down the road, I can have the feeling of being surrounded by the fragrance of ketchup, in the summer…I don’t want to think about it!!!

After spending a great time spending our money in the mall we started walking towards my car, and we saw a crowd of people around my car which seemed a bit questionable, until I got closer and asked someone “What is going on here?“. They said that the person who owns that car has a new ketchup holder and the owner of the car…….A real NEWS MAKER!!!

After I said “ I own the car”…. The crowd went ecstatic saying they saw our videos online, and just had to know more about it and me…. My thought was “ how easy to create a hype with such a stupid thing….

My advice is…Don’t tell anyone if you have bought the ketchup holder, because you don’t want to cause envy amongst your friends…. Enjoy your ketchup!!!!!

Leftovers again……

There you have it… the big day is over and there is all this food leftover and what to do with it…. OMG… but like every year there are the leftover meals from what is left-over from the 25th and like always the recipe ideas are in abundance online as to what to do with your leftovers.

When I think back on my childhood, my mom didn’t have internet, but somehow knew what to make out of the left-overs from our Christmas dinner, maybe the meals weren’t as exciting as what is around for ideas today, but I must admit what my mom made from the left-overs tasted really good and we never complained either… Thanks “mom” for all the great tasting Christmas meal leftovers!

But the all time favorite back then was left-over turkey on bread with gravy and what ever else was left-over from the meal…. Maybe some of you remember that or still eat it… That was just as good as the meal on Christmas day, if you ask me…. But you didn’t! And the great thing about it was that it was easy to make too…. Not too much work for my mom, who had worked so hard on the previous day in the kitchen preparing everything.

This is a tradition too, but most people don’t see it that way because everyone is too preoccupied with the 25th of December and aren’t thinking about the tradition of eating leftovers… A tradition in itself…. And I think there should be a “ National Left-Over’s day the 26th of December”!

So, for those of you out there going to eat left-over’s today…. All I can say is “ enjoy yourself” on National Left-Over’s day!!
