Ketchup and Co……

As you may already know there are lots of things around that you can hold your ketchup in….. An amazing fact that may not be new to you……

But have you heard about the handy condiment holder for the air-vent of your car??? I bet not… and if you have; I bet you have already rushed out and bought one?
Well, as I see it, it’s a must have for 2018 for your car by adding that bit of latter-day charm to modern-day living……just attaching this little holder to the air-vent brings a whole new look to my car let alone being functional too.

And as a gal who is out and about quite a bit; my ketchup won’t spill all over the seats nor on the dashboard…even though I am not one to eat and drive. The esthetics alone are the conversation maker….
There I was driving down the street over to a friends house the other day and I told my friend in advance about that nifty little ketchup thing… and she was almost beside herself with excitement wanting to see the ketchup holder which she and my other friends didn’t have… plus this thingy is not exclusively limited to holding condiments either… What else I am not sure, but I’ll think of something and let you know. That is if you really want to know???

As soon as my friend got into my car she screamed out OMG wow, that’s really cooool!!! I knew that I had impressed her, and she took a couple of pictures of it and posted them on all her social network sites, so that the world could admire my newest thing that I bought that I didn’t need…. Don’t tell my friends that!!!

On the way to our destination to the shopping mall……We want to shop till we drop!!! Remember that saying??? We stopped at a fast-food place to order a takeaway, so that we could try out the new ketchup holder; an event to be videoed and uploaded… Not to be missed; this award-winning event!!!

Now with our fast-food in our hands I maneuvered the car into a parking spot and placed the ketchup into the holder, a sight to behold and you missed out…. It was just so exciting and then we decided to be brave and drive down the street and eat the French-fries at the same time, but then it happened….I had to break hard and you can guess what happened????
The ketchup in the holder spilled into the air-vent and flew everywhere else in the car too, making for a disappointing experience with my new ketchup holder that I was so proud of… But who cares! I pulled over to the side of the road and cleaned-up the mess, simple as that….
Though to be honest I do have some thoughts about later on, and that the car could smell like ketchup… Though when the heat is on full and there I am driving down the road, I can have the feeling of being surrounded by the fragrance of ketchup, in the summer…I don’t want to think about it!!!

After spending a great time spending our money in the mall we started walking towards my car, and we saw a crowd of people around my car which seemed a bit questionable, until I got closer and asked someone “What is going on here?“. They said that the person who owns that car has a new ketchup holder and the owner of the car…….A real NEWS MAKER!!!

After I said “ I own the car”…. The crowd went ecstatic saying they saw our videos online, and just had to know more about it and me…. My thought was “ how easy to create a hype with such a stupid thing….

My advice is…Don’t tell anyone if you have bought the ketchup holder, because you don’t want to cause envy amongst your friends…. Enjoy your ketchup!!!!!

Perils of Parking

Parking your car/ vehicle can be somewhat of a challenge but then again once you’ve parked your car then you can be off to do your shopping or whatever it is you are doing…..

With the “Where did I park my car App” It is said your worries will be over. I personally have some second thoughts about that, because if you forgot to program your car into the system or whatever it is that you need to do, and haven’t done that then how will you be able to find your car????

It seems to me that that is why I was born with a brain to remember where I parked my car, and my trusty brain cells send their little messages trough my brain to tell me where I had parked my car in the parking lot.

Ok, problems could arise when the parking lot is full of cars that are all the same color and model, and then I would admit that I would have problems finding my car, but what is the likelihood of something like that happening…. Any mathematicians reading this?????
At least up until today I have never experienced anything like that but who knows what the future of the parking lot holds???

Ok, maybe there I am ….I’ve parked my car in a sprawling parking lot somewhere on the planet and have gone off for a day of spending my money on things that I don’t need… then it happens I come out and stand there in a parking lot full of cars all the same color as mine… A nightmare!!! I forgot my license plate number to top it off too… Now what…. Scream!!!

Where is my car… the trusty App is confused because it didn’t realize that sooooo many cars would be the same color and they all have the Parking App… But luckily I noted the chassis number of my car…. I am saved now. I just have to look at the Chassis number App now to find my car. Or wait did I enter the chassis number??? I can’t remember because I don’t have the remember App …. OMG!!!!!

I think my brain may blow a fuse and is there an App for that too???? This whole parking issue has gotten my brain into a tizzy and I hope when I go outside after that then I can find my way to the garage and find my car parked there, and hopefully capable of all this without GPS & an App… Now that sounds like a challenge to me!!!

But maybe to avoid the where do I find my car issue; I’ll just ride my bicycle instead and save myself the whole problem of having to look for” where did I park my car”. Problem solved and I am thinking about the environment and doing something for my health…

Ride a bicycle and all your parking problems will be solved and you will feel better too! Enjoy your ride!!

Autumn Leaves

Looking out the window at all those wonderful colored leaves on the trees and seeing them slowly swaying in the wind and then just letting themselves go from the tree and sailing through the air to land softly on the ground… oh those lovely leaves of fall as you send us your greetings to tell us that colder weather is on its way.

There the trees stand no more birds in their nests just a lonely tree bare of its leaves stands there so proudly waiting for some bird to land on its branch and say hello. Not many people put real thought anymore into what happens with the change of season or notices that how lovely the trees are with their leaves a glow in the lovely colors of fall.

As a kid I remember every fall my dad hopped into the car with my mom and me and we drove off for the day just to look at the wonderful colors of the leaves on the trees… oh they were so lovely and bright, or at least they seem so in my memories. The tall majestic trees that were in the countryside and you could drive for miles just looking at all the colors that were abound and sometimes not see another car or person for hours. Those were the wonderful days of fall!

I have great memories of fall and of raking those dreaded leaves too. I always thought as a kid those leaves fell from the tree just to make me work!

My parents would say to me “Now, go outside and rake some of those leaves into piles”. That was a sentence that I hated to hear… those piles of leaves were bigger then me… We had thousands of leaves and they were only there on the ground for me to rake into piles….and then a gust of wind would come along and blow my wonderful piles of leaves away only to hear my dad say.. “Well, you have to start again”. I think the leaves on the ground were invented as a way to keep small kids out of the house so the parents could have their peace and quiet!!!

I hated those leaves and it seemed that the trees had an endless supply of leaves, because there were always leaves to be found in the yard no matter how good I raked!! I personally thought back then that the trees had gotten together in a conspiracy to shed all their leaves in our yard so I would have to rake them into piles.

Oh the fall leaves and their colors and wonderful memories they have left me with of raking them into piles… Enjoy the wonderful colored leaves that the trees are sharing with us!

Billboards are Fading

I read that some city wants to get rid of all its billboards and large signs. I ask that city how can they do that? What is happening to the good’ol things in life and why does everything have to be gotten rid of?

When I sit here and think back to my younger days – oh those wonderful times of yesteryear with the billboards along the side of the road! I feel old now – Help me!!!

Those great billboards that lined the road with some nifty saying or telling you that at the next exit you only have to drive 5 miles and there will be some exciting adventure for the whole family.

Or there was one where I lived with a giant ice-cream cone and as a kid I always dreamed that one day I would get an ice-cream cone that size but somehow my dream never came true and the sign was torn down when I was about 10 years old.

Or there was the happy family driving along without a care in the world in a car waving to all those who passed by. Those were great times.

There were giant burgers or soft drinks that would make your mouth water and as a kid I would beg my parents to take me there only to hear my dad say it was too far away; maybe some other time. My dad must have said that sentence a trillion times every time I saw a billboard with food on it; I wanted to go there and have something to eat.

There were the billboards for tourist attractions too which were really great; promising you the world and wild animals that would eat you alive if you weren’t careful.

Or there was the man-eating creature waiting to devour you when you stopped there. And of course my dad would never stop at such great places because as he put it “That’s a load of hog wash!”

Those words brought tears to my eyes because I wanted to see a real man-eating animal and what did I get just a glimpse of the place as we drove by.

Though one year my dad decided to drive to Florida for Christmas and so we made our way from upstate New York to Florida and that was a trip that left lasting memories in my brain and my dad was the best dad in the world that year and he still is!!!

As we crossed the border into the southern states that’s where the signs began to tell me there were great thing in store if I just keep reading. The first sign was only 200 mile to (whatever the name of the place was) and it went like that every couple of mile so there was a building up of excitement in the car because I knew that was a place to stop at and after my dad driving for hours and listening to me begging from the back seat when will be there and my mom sitting there patently listening to me too. Then the moment came and my dad pulled off the highway to the place with the giant sombrero! I was ecstatic just to see that hat that had been on all the billboards since entering the southern states.

Then we parked and got out and my dad gave me .50 cents so I could get myself a souvenir. That was life and I knew that they would have something there for me! I ran into the store only to see that it was full of tee-shirts and plastic alligators and some sombreros and post cards. Nothing was there that was as exciting as the bill boards. I wanted excitement and looked and looked only to be disappointed and walked back out to the car with my mom and my .50 cents still in my hand.

After we got back onto the highway again my spirits were lifted by the bigger than life signs for pecan pie. I had never seen such huge pies before and they looked really good too along with the happy people who were eating the pies. My dad said we would stop for some of that great looking pecan pie, which we did but I didn’t like the pie so I had to settle for a wonderful chocolate ice-cream sundae.

Those billboards were great!

Then the moment came with the giant orange welcoming you too Florida and there in that state were billboards with giant fish and alligators on them or monkeys and other exotic creatures that I had never seen before.
Those billboards really showed me what life was about and all the great things that life had to offer. I couldn’t sleep in the car because I was so excited that I would miss out on some great picture on a billboard. What pictures they were indeed!!

To all those people who will decide about billboards: Please, don’t get rid of all those great things because that was and makes life so memorable!

Men and Cars

As you can imagine from the title this has something to do with men and their passion for cars.
Today my guy took it upon himself to drag me to an auto show where a huge hall was filled with all models of cars manufactured by some European company.

There I was and let me tell you I wasn’t the only gal there not too excited about how much horsepower the car had or what sort of tires it had. There were lots of gals there just standing looking into space while their other half was prancing around the car like it was an object that has never been seen before.

Actually, I wanted to ask each gal” are you having a good time or are you here like me,; just along for the ride?” I am pretty sure most were in the same boat as I was. If I asked my guy to come look at handbags he would tell me that I am nuts and that I can do that alone or with one of my gal friends. But with cars I have to be dragged along for some reason which I am sorry to say I cannot answer.

The men themselves were more interesting than the cars were; because it seemed each one was trying to outdo the other by the way they swayed up to the car and stood in front of it. It was like being in the Wild West without a horse. Gals I am sure you know what I am talking about.

Somehow I think most of the men there had forgotten where they were and of course who knows more about which model is very important or for example MPG and so forth. Men say we gals have a handbag problem but when I was standing there I thought if all these guys here had enough space at home each one of them would have bought at least 5 cars and have them on display in their garage all shining and nice but not to be touched by the female species.

My guy came across a model which he found interesting and talked to some guy for 45 minutes about this and that. I wasn’t there anymore and when he was finished he turned and said to me” oh, you are still here?” I thought were should I be? His mind was clouded by the fresh leather interiors and shiny paint, and I was lost only to be an object there to hold onto the brochures.

But then I got bored and thought I will look around myself while he’s gossiping with some guys about whatever.

There before my eyes was my car! It was like a handbag screaming at me saying “buy me.” I stood there before it and saw myself sitting behind the while driving endlessly through the countryside with the top down and the sun shining and not a care in the world. I was in heaven!

But I was brought back to reality because I didn’t have the right amount of small change with me. So my driving around in the convertible was brought to an abrupt halt. Though it was great for a couple of minutes and I could amuse myself until I was brought back to reality again for the 2nd time by the salesman saying that car was for younger folks and I should maybe take a look at the other model with seats that are easier to get out of. You can just image the look I gave him and walked away! Men don’t they think gals can’t like cars too?

Well, after wandering around I found my guy still in the same spot that I left him but only to find the number of other guys in the conversation had increased to 6 now. I thought -> how can I get his attention? Maybe jump up and down, scream or stand on my head? I tried the old fashioned way of tugging on his sweater but no luck so I said to him that I wanted to go home. That was a mistake with a capital “M”.

Gals never; I repeat never say that at a car show.. I will spare you the rest here.

So, gals if your guy asks if you want to go to a car show with him than I would nicely suggest that you say “You can go alone and I can enjoy a nice day out with the gals.” This way saving a lot of grief on both sides and the men can enjoy their time with the cars and we can enjoy our time with the handbags!

Enjoy your day whatever you decide to do!

The Pleasures of Picnicking

Picnicking is a great thing when the weather warms up and the sun is shining. There’s nothing better than getting together with your partner or friends for a great picnic.

This is such a great way to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and see the countryside. But to make picnicking easier you need your picnic tray which attaches to your jeans and has a built in drinks holder so nothing will spill.
This wonderful set-up is a must for all picnickers and you can fold the tray up and place it in your jeans pocket when you are finished. I am not sure about the exact set-up but it has to be somewhat as I just mentioned.

So imagine you are bicycling along with your guy or gal and in the basket you have all the picnic supplies, such as food and drink, plus a blanket to sit on too. So no cold backside -> don’t want to get hemorrhoids now do we?

There is the spot nice and sunny by a river bank with ducks or swans on it. The perfect spot for a picnic! You spread out the blanket and place the food on it and stand there and think “my how lovely” but something seems to be missing? But what?

Ah, and then it dawns on you your fold-up tray for your jeans making any picnic an experience. Both of you whip-out your trays for your jeans -> sit down and then the picnic can begin.

But be careful this can be a bit awkward if you haven’t practiced a bit at home because if you want to lean forward to take a sandwich everything on your jeans tray could slide off it making your picnic a disaster and dampening you with your drink. This would be a nightmare for me!!!

There I am with my guy and we are enjoying our picnic and he asks me “could you pour me a bit more red wine into my glass?” -> well because I am intoxicated by the beauty around me and not thinking about my jeans tray; I reach over for the wine and all my food & glass of wine slide off my tray and the red wine cause a BIG spot on my WHITE blanket -> OMG

My day is ruined! And thank goodness I didn’t forget my special picnic spot remover set that goes with the jeans tray especially for these problems, so I could save our picnic because I could see my guy was getting a bit impatient with the whole ordeal.
Those jeans trays are really something and if you practice you can balance 2 plates full of food 2 glasses of whatever you are drinking and 2 beers along with a dessert.

Tip: you have to sit down first to attach the tray to your jeans otherwise forget it, and it is advisable to have someone along to serve the food because it is really tricky too carry all that, sit down and then place it all on your jeans tray.
If you have managed this…. By all means please inform us how you did it. Thank you

But once you have practiced a bit with the jeans tray then it can be a real highlight at you next picnic.

Another tip that I must mention: You cannot ride your bike or drive your car with the jeans on because of the 2 metal holder thingies on each leg. This could be very painful if you are on a bike, so wear another pair of jeans and once you are at your destination then change into your picnic tray jeans.

This is a must for all picnic fans, so remember at your next picnic; don’t forget your picnic tray jeans or else it could be boring picnic. Have fun!

World Earth Day April 22, 2012

World Earth Day is a day to make you aware of what is happening to the earth.

This is a good idea but why only on this day?

People should think about the environment everyday and not just for a couple of hours on a specific day. If people practiced saving energy and natural recourses and thought about how much water, gas, energy or other things that they use throughout their day we wouldn’t need to be reminded once a year that the earth’s resources are slowly but defiantly dwindling away.

Society seems to have gotten so greedy that they only think about themselves and what they need and not on the next generations to come and will there be anything left for those generations too?

There are so many ways a household can make their mark on the environment but are they willing to and do they maybe want to do without? This I doubt very much and so there you go the problem with the environment.

I myself can see the changes in the world around me that are caused from waste. Look at the oceans with all the plastic floating around in it and this being ingested by fish or they get tangled up in it and die. But as many think -> who cares; out of sight out of mind!

Or why does everyone have to own so many cars and then they all wonder -> why is there a gas shortage and prices are rising. Really now folks get real!

Or do you really need to watch TV 24/7 because the television set consumes a lot of energy and you have to pay for the electricity too. Maybe, ever thought of a TV free day or reading a book that could stimulate the mind as an alternative.

Another one is what ever happened to the good’ol clothes line where you hung your clothes out to dry and the wind and the sun dried them and they smelled good too and all that without the need of an electric dryer. The wonders of nature can be fascinating!!

There are thousands of ways that people can help out and still enjoy life. It is just a matter of starting to change your life style and not always procrastinate and say that I’ll start that tomorrow because you know as well as I do “Tomorrow never comes”

Think about what you can do and maybe you will feel better about yourself by doing your bit for the earth!

Can I Drive my Car?

With the price of gas/petrol or whatever you like to call it there seems to be a constant increase in its price. Sooner or later I won’t be able to drive my car anymore because I just plain cannot afford it.

You read daily that prices are increasing and that supplies are dwindling and so forth, but no one has come up with a real alternative that could help us.

I was looking at the cost of gas on the internet in various countries and was somewhat surprised at the prices.(note prices are not today’s and have changed since I wrote this.)

UK: £ 5.00 a gallon / Canada: $ 5.15 a gallon / Germany: € 6.36 a gallon

My gosh, I need to be a millionaire to fill the tank up of my car. I need to ride my bicycle more. This is good for the environment and I get exercise at the same time. And there are more positive things to riding a bike, like it helps you lose weight or you get out of the house and see the world from a different angle, and you can do your shopping too.

My advice: plan ahead with grocery shopping, because you have to carry everything and balance it all too! Or else your eggs could break.

The bicycle is a great thing, though many have just forgotten about it and I think now it will be making its comeback in the times when gas prices are rising.

And my car? Well, I will put it in the garage all nice and shiny and on the wall in front of my car hang a screen and there you go. I have my own drive-in movie theater right at my doorstep.

When I feel like going out to the movies in my car all I have to do is make some popcorn load up the DVD player with the movie I/we want to see and sit in my car and enjoy a full screen movie. You can do this too and if your car is large enough you can invite some friends over for a drive-in movie in your garage.

Though, I would recommend the garage drive-in only in the summer months because you can’t have the cars motor running in the garage. Firstly, because it’s dangerous for your health and secondly it would be bad for the environment and expensive for your wallet.

I am getting a bit reminiscent about gas prices here. When I think back all those years to my very first car that my parents gave me for graduating from high school. Now that was a car!!!

A convertible with a couple of holes in the roof for extra ventilation on rainy days and a bit of Irish lace too; that added a special note to the car. Making it one of a kind and ooh, I forgot to add if it rained and the distributor cap got damp then it wouldn’t start at all and then needed a blow dryer to get the moisture out of the distributor cap. A must for all car drivers today…..

That car was great even when it cause my father many a head ache. It was simply cheap to run. I could fill it up for $1.00 and drive all week. I forgot to mention it was some small European thing whereas all my friends had larger models and couldn’t afford the gas. So when they were strapped for cash everyone wanted to have the luxury of my car. Even back then a small car paid off, but you won’t find gas that cheap anymore.

I rode my bicycle everywhere too back then because it was somehow more fun than always riding around in my car.

Try riding your bicycle and see how much fun it can be and get to see the world from a different perspective and save some gas too.

Looking for Mr. or Ms. Marble

I never before thought about being in love with a marble statue but supposedly somewhere in the world someone is.
This could be seen as bringing a whole new meaning to the words dating and relationships for guys and gals.

I’ll be somewhat old fashioned and start with “Ladies first” and list the pros and cons of such a relationship.

Pros
Your Mr. Marble never argues with you -> now this is a real plus and saves your nerves and you won’t go gray so fast from arguing with someone.

Never complains -> This is even better because there is no one there to say that dinner is cold or his shirts aren’t pressed right and so forth.

Virtually maintenance free -> never have to do any laundry or clean up after him, so this means more free time to do what you want.

There are many other things too that I could list here but then I would run out of space.

Though there are a couple of cons to a Mr. Marble too:

Mr. Marble can’t talk -> this makes for a very one sided conversation and could get boring after awhile, and because I love to talk; I am not too sure about such a guy.

Can’t take me out ->now here’s a real problem. Just think about it; you reserved a table at a nice restaurant and you show up with Mr. Marble and take your seat and he is seated next to you. Well, don’t be surprised if you get some strange looks, and the worst part is when you are finished you have to pay for the meal yourself, plus you never get invited out by Mr. Marble.

I like to be invited out, so this defiantly wouldn’t work for me!

The worst one is driving around in your car. You have to chauffeur Mr. Marble everywhere and pay for the gas on top of that too. But if you own a bicycle you can put Mr. Marble in the basket and ride around with him and be the envy of all your gal friends.

Still somehow a real guy seems more appealing to me. But then again I never had a Mr. Marble.

The worst thought of all is; what happens when Mr. Marble accidentally falls on the floor and shatters into a thousand pieces??? Will you be able to replace him and is he insured with accidental cover?

Otherwise, there could be serious trouble in your life, unless to deliberately threw Mr. Marble on the ground because you had enough of him and wanted a newer model. Now that’s not bad. No arguing crying or divorce. One drop and he’s out of your life!

Now guys, I haven’t forgotten you here either. There’s the Ms. Marble version who will never talk back to you either and can sit next to you hours on end as you watch sports on TV and never complaining about it. Or just plain o’l cruise around with Ms. Marble in the car and be the envy of all your buddies and the advantage of Ms. Marble is she’s a cheap date.
No more spending money on needless dates that don’t lead anywhere because Ms. Marble won’t lead you anywhere either. Ms. Marble will always have a face of stone so no worries there either.

This whole issue brings you to think that times are really changing and if you want to keep abreast of them, then maybe you should consider in investing in a Mr. or Ms. Marble at an unbelievable cheap price of $19.95 plus tax and a five year guarantee against rust. So rush out now before Friday and pick yourself up one for a stress free weekend.

Need a New Guy??

On Saturday while reading the newspaper I came across the section where guys are looking for gals and thought to myself “I have to read this, but how?
Because with my husband sitting across from me it would be rather difficult and I don’t want him to think that I want to replace him for someone who I read about in the newspaper.

But since it was a sunny day I knew that sooner or later he would go outside and wash the car, and if it was up to me it could be sooner. Then I wouldn’t have to wait soooo long to read this section of the newspaper with all those great guy ads.
It seemed to take ages before he went outside and then he asked me: If everything was ok, because I seemed a bit impatient today as if I wanted to get rid of him?

Do men have a built in App that tells them what gals are thinking?

Anyways, he finally went outside and I could finally finish reading the newspaper and take a closer look at what’s on offer out there in the world of guys.

A couple of agencies had toll-free numbers, so you could save money and others you had to call at your own expense (tight wads).
A lot of guys were older models looking for younger gals not older than 40 and offering them: cash, vacations and maybe more. The maybe more I found a bit vague because that could mean anything and probably not what I think it is.

There was a guy who said he was romantic, played golf and the accordion too. Now that I found really good because my husband can play golf but not the accordion, and this somehow gets me dreaming about being on the golf course with this guy.

The date starts at the first hole and he has teed-off and then I place my ball on the tee and he hands me a rose and my heart starts to flatter and before I have a chance to tee-off he plays a lovely tune on his accordion. This brings goose bumps to my skin and fall in love with him until we reach the 15th hole and he doesn’t have any beer with him for me to enjoy so my whole bubble of love has popped.

Another ad states that the guy is romantic, likes good food and no conversation.

How that works don’t ask me and I would not want a date with him either. I can see it now. I show up at his place he says to me you can cook and he sits there and watches some stupid program on TV and I end up eating what I cooked myself because he is busy texting his friends that he has got some chick at his place to cook for him. I like to talk and so that relationship would not work out for me.

The final ad was for a guy who owned a company and the chick could work for him as a “girl Friday”, and it is written in black & white: She by no means is to live at his place!!!

He is a real character and seems to have a one track mind wanting to boss others around and to top it off; I have to have my own place!! He’s got nerve…..

After reading all those ads I started to look out the window at my husband washing our car and thought -> he really isn’t such a bad guy after all when I compare him to the guys in the newspaper.

Plus an afterthought is that I have no idea whether or not the guys have even written the truth in the newspaper or is everything exaggerated so that all single gals will fall for them?

Who knows and who cares. All I can say if you want some good reading in the newspaper by all means read this section!!
