Another year again with Decorations

There you have it… November is here and Christmas decorations are in all the stores again…. But nothing is new, so I decided to take a look at my collection of decorations that seem to have collected themselves through the years… Maybe you know this phenomenon at your house too???

I see all these tips (life hacks) as to how to organize my decorations and sort them out and so forth and the most annoying are the strings of lights that seem to magically tangle themselves throughout the summer months. How this happens is beyond me…. Really baffling when I think about it (maybe better not to think about it..)

Of course, with good intentions I bought all the organizational material needed to sort out my chaos of decorations, but the thought of them not being placed in their beloved box that I bought them in, that is held together with adhesive tape brings tears to my eyes… that carton or better said the box for the glass tree decorations has a history to it and just looking at the faded price sticker reminds me of the day I bought them… How can an organization box with everything crammed neatly into it give me the same feeling???? No, it can’t!!!!

And there before my eyes are the strings of lights, some brightly colored and others only with white bulbs tangled up overnight by themselves, because I know I placed them properly in the box at the end of the Christmas season, plus which string of lights still works or which string has burnt-out bulbs??? A puzzling question indeed!!!
This is a job that needs to be tackled right away before the magic moment of using them in December… Nothing worse than a burnt-out bulb to ruin the look of your Christmas tree or the fact that the whole darn string of bulbs don’t work because one bulb is burnt-out and the lights are already on the tree… I know the lights worked before I hung them on the tree ( I tried them out first and everyone light-up) I am sure you know that problem too????
Then there are the yearly broken decorations in the box…. How that happened is beyond me??? The OMG effect is best in this case is my motto..

When confronted with a broken glass decoration is care of the utmost importance; not because you could cut yourself, but because maybe the decoration has memories attached to it and so depose of it with care when saying good-bye to it… Good bye dear decoration….we had many years of great times together!!!

One more thing are those plastic decorations that are a dime a dozen but do not stand a chance on my tree, because they just don’t have the shine and shimmer that glass decorations can give you on your tree….

But what I really wanted to say is: Sort out your decorations carefully and enjoy the moments when doing it, because there can be great memories attached to some decorations and we seem to forget that in our busy lives…….. Have fun sorting out!!!

Christmas is over….

Well Christmas is over and now we are counting the days until the New Year 2017…. My how time fly’s!

Though Christmas is not that far in the past and so many people seem not to gotten the present they hoped for and want to return it to where it was purchased and exchange it for something else that they like… this seems like a normal thing with lots of people, but I must be lucky because I am always happy with what I receive and never want to return anything that I get.

And now there are the over abundance of tips as to what to do with the leftovers from Christmas dinner and how to store all the food properly, as if it is something new all these food hacks (ideas/tips) nothing has changed, just the design of the plates the food is served on and as for storing the food, common sense I hope still exists and we know what to do.

Though like every year now there are the tips on how to lose those extra Christmas pounds in time for New Years Eve, so you can wear that new little outfit…. I think I’ll skip that and wait and enjoy myself instead of worrying… I feel better already!
Nothing worse than not being able to enjoy yourself…. Everyone around you is eating and drinking something, and there you are saying” Sorry, no thanks. I am on a diet until 31 December”… Just image the comment or the facial expression of the person you say that too…. They will/would probably think you’re nuts!!

Sorry got a bit sidetracked here. I think I’ll just put my feet-up and take it easy and enjoy myself and forget about all the food hacks, diets, etc….

Enjoy yourself too….Christmas is over only once a Year!

Come and Gone….

It was here as quick as it was over with a blink of an eye…… It was Christmas and another blink, and it was over…….
We spend sooooooo much time preparing for a couple of hours of togetherness and then Christmas is here and a couple of hours later it is over with only memories, some photos and presents left-over for us to look at and hopefully for everyone a happy memory of those hours.

Before Christmas this year I was looking around at the people only to see faces that seemed stressed-out and no smiles (where have the smiles gone???). Somehow, my childhood memories seem to be filled with more people smiling when I was out and about…… Whether that is true or not; I can’t say, but it seemed so and was nice to see.
Please world don’t forget how to smile because it is something that doesn’t cost anything and is so nice to see.

Now everyone is getting ready for the next round of action…. New Years eve and then there you have it; not only has Christmas come and gone, but a year too.

Though before that happens there is still time to enjoy the last days of this year and that is what we should do and, so enjoy the last days of this year and have a happy and healthy New Year 2016!

Time again…..

The seasons are just flying by and the geese are saying good bye and now the stores are saying „ Christmas is just around the corner“…. OMG is all I can say!

I need time and don’t want to be rushed into Christmas, because it is still a while off and Halloween hasn’t even taken place or Thanksgiving for that fact…. But NO we need to worry about Christmas…

Is that the only thing that people or retailers can think about??? What happened to enjoying the time between seasons as they happen and not rush, rush for upcoming times/ events that haven’t even happened yet??

I want to enjoy the leaves as they change color or walk in the woods and hear the crackle of the dry leaves under my feet and not worry about Christmas is just around the corner. Then there is so much to enjoy, and the fun of decorating for Halloween with the kids knocking on your door with their cute costumes on……. But no….. Christmas is just around the corner!

Or what about Thanksgiving and getting together with friends and family to enjoy yourself and a day of togetherness…… NO…. Christmas is just around the corner!

One day in the near future I think Halloween and Thanksgiving will be written off and we will head straight for Christmas …. By this I mean first spring, summer …. Maybe fall and then Christmas, because it is right around the corner…. No more excitement like it was when I was a kid with the building-up of excitement that came when December started….. No more…. Sorry, because Christmas is just around the corner!

I don’t want Christmas just around the corner… I want Christmas in December where it belongs and not in some other month.

I hope you think so too, and enjoy yourselves now and not worry about Christmas that is in December and not in October!

I’m waiting for Santa

It just doesn’t seem possible that in a couple of hours it is that time of year again where Santa will be visiting us all around the world.

I have been putting a bit of thought into Santa’s logistics and that guy must really be organized to get all the presents delivered on time to everyone and the time he and his helpers needed beforehand to read all the wish lists and to pack all the presents with the right kind of wrapping paper is unbelievable let alone the amount of wrapping paper needed to wrap everything… That guy Santa is simply amazing!!!

I always wonder does Santa ever have problems with the elves that work for him, because we never hear anything about them and all the great things they do for Santa so he can deliver all the presents on time and how many elves does he have working for him??? Anyone know?

Then there are the reindeer.. Great animals and the strength they must have to pull Santa and his sleigh around is really amazing. We seem to forget about all the logistics behind Santa that makes his one night a year run so smoothly.

Santa…. I am waiting here patiently for you and I just want to thank all your helpers in the background that make your one great night a year a success!

Merry Christmas to everyone out there who has read this post.

Christmas Countdown

Time is running out and it’s „ Christmas Countdown „now to do the last bit of running around for whatever it is you need for that big event day of the year 25th December … HELP!!!

My, how much emphasis is placed on a few hours and all that preparing, shopping and planning and so forth. If I was only paid for all the time I spent planning, shopping and cooking I would be a multimillionaire by now…

Please Santa: Where’s my pay check for all the work I have done throughout the years… This wish is at the top of my wish list this year and if it could only be fulfilled … Santa; please I have been good all year!! Though I doubt very much that my wish will come true so, I will settle for the recognition and thanks from everyone.

Got sidetracked with Santa there.. Sorry

Now it’s a race to fight the crowds and find that last minute present or anything that is leftover in the stores and buy the rest of the groceries… I’m starting to sweat just thinking about all that running around.. Great way to burn calories as long as I don’t stop to eat or drink anything.. More room for the Christmas bird than!!! I’m getting hungry just thinking about all that food that I still need to buy.

Plus, why did they plan Christmas on a Wednesday this year?? I need to have a word with those calendar producers about which day Christmas should be on. I always thought Santa had some influence on which day Christmas fell on, but I guess with modern times he is losing his influence too.

When I saw everyone running around yesterday looking for that perfect present they did not have a smile on their face or look cheery.. No sir they simply looked stress out!!!

Christmas countdown: it’s all about rush, rush and rush, but I want some time not too rush around and so my countdown to Christmas has started , and if I have forgotten something for that great day… Well, sorry because I don’t want to rush. I want to enjoy life too!

Enjoy your Christmas countdown whatever you decide to do!!

Rush Out and Buy!

The same problem every year… the right present and now all I read is that I have to rush out and buy something for Christmas. Where do I rush too and what do I buy??? Those articles are full of suggestions and tips as to how I can spend all my hard earned cash on that present that really isn’t needed and the only winner is the retailer who emptied my wallet and has a grin on their face….

I have wandered the malls and looked in many a store to find something to “rush out and buy” but in the end I still haven’t bought anything, because I haven’t seen anything that is really the present of the year 2013! There are sales and offers or buy one get one free but that still isn’t what I am looking for.

I feel misdirected as to where to rush too and buy…. Any ideas out there????

What do my friends and family want for Christmas and is it something I want to buy them??? My “rush out and buy” seems to be slowing down and by the time that day comes.. The good’ol 25th December I am still not sure if I will have bought anything by then.

I could “rush out and buy”:

Clothing….. Have enough of that.

Toiletries…. Got plenty of that too… why more, just to collect dust!

Electronics… How many devices does one need and the cables and chargers alone cost as must as the device itself.

Gift certificates… great but impersonal.. And how much should the certificate be worth, and is it from the right store???

My list could be endless here and I am in a rut as to “rush out and buy”… I’ll take my time and think about it before I spend all my money in one place or at all !

Tis the season to be jolly and spending!

Holiday… Make-up

Now, I really don’t know what to do since now there is the holiday make-up that you should have as a gal.. I thought my make-up was fine until I read the article about holiday make-up that told me I need that special touch to make me glow on that day.

I think just by standing in the kitchen cooking the meal I will be a glow from the heat put off from the stove, so why the fuss, just cook the holiday meal and there you go.. Rosy cheeks for free. Ok, I’ll admit it is not the same as going out and buying blusher, but it is a natural color that you get in your face from cooking the meal and maybe even more color too if there is someone there who doesn’t like your cooking….. Christmas is the season to be jolly

I wonder what the holiday make-up colors are?? Traditional red & green or a more modern tone that will liven up my face…. I need help!!! It seems to me as the years pass there is always more to think and worry about with Christmas approaching at the speed of light…..

My mom never gave a second thought about which make-up she would be wearing on Christmas day. She just dolled herself up and if I remember rightly she looked good for a mom. Mom’s had that mom look back then, not like moms now-a-days.

Since I started writing here; I think I’ll go tomorrow and have a Christmas make-up consultation and see what they suggest. Though I am a bit worried, because when you see how some of those models in the magazines look with their make-up on and if I looked like that I may scare everyone away and truly that is something that I don’t want to do. Plus, I have never seen anyone walking down the street with that sort of make-up on. I must be living in the wrong town…..

Personally, I like the color of the make-up which I have but still the thought not having the right Christmas make-up is a trifle worrying. Do other women worry about this problem too???
I think when I am at the office tomorrow I will make a questionnaire and send it around to all the women and see what they have to say about this subject and then I can draw my conclusion from that. Ok, maybe I should only ask the women who wear make-up, because there are a few who don’t wear any and that could sidetrack me from my Christmas make-up problem. Life can be so complicated!

Questionnaire:
1. What is Christmas make-up? No idea, never heard of it
2. What colors for Christmas? Red & Green… ok, green eye shadow & red blusher, lipstick maybe
3. How much do you want to spend? Nothing… I’m too cheap!

Well, I guess my Christmas make-up problem could be easier solved then I thought.

Gals, enjoy your Christmas make-up.. no matter which color you choose!

Sleigh Bells are Ringing

Oh there are only 10 until those sleigh bells can be heard outside your house and Santa will slide down your chimney and fill your stocking. I hope everyone has been good this year and not misbehaved…….

DSCF1674

Those were great times when I was I kid crossing off the days on the calendar and hoping that I wouldn’t do anything that would upset Santa Claus… I wanted him to stop by our house and so for me being good in December was on top of my list and not to forget the mile long wish list that I wrote too with all the stuff that I thought I needed.
When I think back to the things that I wished for it seems light years away because when I see what kids wish for today my toys seemed so dull and boring to them. But for me they were action packed with adventure and brought me and my friends’ hours of fun!!! I loved my toys

DSCF1675

There on my list when I was young were dolls and a baby buggy or some great piece of clothing to dress my doll in or a cassette with some cool music on it (Cassette – what’s that????) or there were the wonderful books full of adventure that took place in unknown places around the world – making my fascination run wild and letting me be part of something that I wouldn’t experience at home. Sometimes a dress would be under the tree that I could wear on Christmas day. Do little girls still wear those??? Santa was always so thoughtful. Or if I was really lucky there would be all kinds of chocolate stuffed in my stocking and the healthy orange( that was something that was always in it)…… oh those wonderful childhood memories!!!

I knew on Christmas Eve that when I placed the note beside the plate of cookies and a glass of milk on the kitchen table for Santa that there would be some great things in store for me on Christmas day…… Though sometimes I was soooooo excited that it seemed to take ages to fall asleep and my mom would always say “You must try to sleep or Santa won’t stop by.” How could she say that??? I was so excited about that jolly guy stopping by our house that I just couldn’t fall asleep; but sooner or later I did and would wake up and go down stairs to see a wonderfully lit Christmas tree and all the presents from Santa Claus under it. And Santa was such a great guy that he always left something for our dog Cesar too! So, I knew the Cesar must have been friends with Santa.

DSCF1673

So, I am just going to count the days now and make my wish list and hope that all my wishes come true even though I know that guy Santa Claus says I am toooooo old but hey, Who said you can’t enjoy the spirit of Santa at any age.?
