Come and Gone….

It was here as quick as it was over with a blink of an eye…… It was Christmas and another blink, and it was over…….
We spend sooooooo much time preparing for a couple of hours of togetherness and then Christmas is here and a couple of hours later it is over with only memories, some photos and presents left-over for us to look at and hopefully for everyone a happy memory of those hours.

Before Christmas this year I was looking around at the people only to see faces that seemed stressed-out and no smiles (where have the smiles gone???). Somehow, my childhood memories seem to be filled with more people smiling when I was out and about…… Whether that is true or not; I can’t say, but it seemed so and was nice to see.
Please world don’t forget how to smile because it is something that doesn’t cost anything and is so nice to see.

Now everyone is getting ready for the next round of action…. New Years eve and then there you have it; not only has Christmas come and gone, but a year too.

Though before that happens there is still time to enjoy the last days of this year and that is what we should do and, so enjoy the last days of this year and have a happy and healthy New Year 2016!

A Couple of Calories Today

With all the talk and articles about the calories in drinks and food I am not too sure about what are they all trying to tell me……… A surmounting amount of questions…… and the worries never stop…OMG

With the fashionable coffee drinks of the season with the trillions of calories that will probably make me fall over just looking at it. I wonder why everyone is up in arms about the calories…… no one is forcing me to drink those beverages, and I can choose what I like to drink and if I want one of those trillion calorie drinks then I am simply going to drink it; whether it is healthy for me or not.

The same holds true for the food we eat ….. Trillions of calories in everything and nothing is healthy…. One week this and the next week that …. I just can’t seem to keep up with all these calories loaded foods let alone the money I would have to spend each week changing my diet to keep-up with the latest fad…. This is all too mind boggling for me.

Plus, to top it off, I am still alive and managing without all those reminders that I had a piece of toast with butter or I ate 2 eggs for breakfast and downed it with a couple of cups of coffee and to make things worse had a glass of orange juice. Sugar in the orange juice, cholesterol in the eggs and butter and fat in the butter, oh and not to forget the caffeine in my coffee and my day has just started….

Then there is lunch with its dangers lingering somewhere in the shadows of my life. I think I’ll go for a salad. Is it healthy????? Maybe or maybe not…. With no salad dressing I am on the safe side or maybe just a honeymoon salad then I know for sure I am eating healthy, and a glass of water to down the bland tasting leaves of the salad. I feel like I am the picture of health now!!

But there is the afternoon coffee-break there just tempting me to drink one of those flavorful beverages with only a trillion calories ….. I want one but all the articles say they are bad for me. I stare through the window of the coffee shop admiring all those people who are sitting there enjoying themselves without a care in the world and no thoughts about the trillion calories either…. Tears swell in my eyes as trillions of little calories prance through my brain and they get the best of me and I go inside and order and enjoy a trillion calories and who cares, because it is only winter once a year and I need to enjoy myself sometimes and do all those things that the articles try to make me worry about.

No worries here and of those trillions of calories….. Well hey, Life is like that and everyone has to make up their own minds!

Health Today

Yes, indeed health today isn’t like it used to be, as I have noticed while glancing at the online pages of newspapers and the sections about health………. Could be worrying actually, but I find it more like where do they find all that stuff?????

Most of it is old stuff trying to make it look modern in our digital world.

There is the article about kissing and what kind of kisser the person is…….. very important… but I wonder do you have to ask the person first to fill out a questionnaire and they check off how they see themselves as a kisser and then you can decide if you want to kiss them or is it….. You kiss and then each of you get your guidebook out and analyze how each other kiss and then take it from there… What amazing stuff!!!
How did I ever manage in my younger years without such booklets??? No one had a guidebook back then to tell us the right way to kiss or what the meaning of the kiss meant… You either like kissing the person or not. Simple as that!!

But there are serious topics too like a foggy brain and how to clear out the clutter…. I guess it is like cleaning out the attic on the weekend…. Sit down note that toooooo much info is floating around in your brain and then sorting out the bits and pieces of irrelevant information. Maybe like deleting stuff from your hard drive on your computer???
This got me thinking and I am not too sure how I can figure out if my brain is storing too much information, though maybe forgetfulness is the signal that says “ Hey, too much useless info in your brain, time to sort out.” Even with that thought …. What do I sort out??? I may need that bit of information at a later date and when I do and there is no internet connection…. Then what???
I would wish that I never sorted out that piece of information. Maybe, I can get a sort of external hard-drive to save the excess information for when I need it…. HUM, but then again I may collect to much new information and then the fogginess starts again… one endless circle that seems to never end….

Then there is eating your vegetables that are good for you….. Sort of like when you were a kid and mom would say “eat your carrots there good for your eyesight” or “eat your spinach so you will grow big and strong” …. Now all is written, saying the same thing that I have known since I was a kid….. Have modern moms forgotten about what their moms said about veggies?? I can remember those days with my mom saying those sentences and sitting there shoving the vegetables around the plate until they were cold and tasteless and still having to eat them because they were good for me…. I thought my mom was super strict when it came to veggies and other times cool….
But I guess now when I look back at it she knew what she was talking about…. Thanks mom! And that she knew that even when there were no computers too……… That is truly something!!!

As for health today… Take care of yourself, sort out your brain, eat all your vegetables and don’t forget your kissing guidebook before you make that next kiss……….

App to Happ

Now there’s finally something that will make my day a happy one – the “happy app” or if I need to lose weight the –”weighty app” ( the real names I don’t know) but to just stare at the screen of my cell phone and be hypnotized into thinking that I am happy or will lose weight seems a bit farfetched. But if you have more money than you know what to do with then by all means beeeee cooooool and buy the thing.

I have made-up some pill color examples :

I can see some positive advantages to getting one of those little pictures of a pill…… I show the green pill a symbol for money to my guy when I am a bit strapped for cash and after 30 seconds he says” Honey how much do you need?” – I feel better already just at that thought. No need to worry. Or it could be great at the office. Just imagine, normally you worry about how can approach your boss for a pay rise???? No problem!!! Just show your boss the screen of your cell phone with the “green pill” on it and after 30 seconds…. He/ she says; “of, course you can.” Now that’s something to smile about!!! So I am happy…..

Then there’s probably the”yellow pill” for the day when the sun isn’t shining. Again look at the little “yellow pill” and there you are sitting on the beach enjoying yourself soaking up a little sunshine. The wonders of the imagination… Mine still works, thank goodness!
But this app could be a real nerve saver at the office when everyone is in a bad mood… go around to your colleagues and show them the app and I am sure that would lighten their spirits up. But be careful the boss doesn’t catch you and get mad at you, because then you need the “yellow & black pill” – for how to make my boss in a better mood – use sparingly.

With the “black pill” one should take heed and not over do it, but if you want others to be in a bad mood , because maybe your spirits are down then this “black pill” is good….. Can’t be happy all the time! Just a quick glance at the” black pill” and it makes you feel that something isn’t going the way it should be… a gray cloud is looming overhead!!

Then there’s the “pink pill” for gals…. USE WITH EXTREME CAUTION!!! This is the shopping pill. Just a quick glimpse at this pill and you are in a trance and ready for a day out at the mall…. But beware; do you have enough small change in your handbag for this adventure?????

Guys there is something for you too – the “orange pill” this little pill once you look at it puts you in the right frame of mind for an evening out with the guys to watch the game. NOTE: this is not recommended for gals!

And not to forget the “invisible pill” this is for those on diets. Just one look at the “invisible pill” and your hunger is cured. Don’t know the exact scientific principle but, I guess its trial and error with this one and no guarantee.

I wonder if you need a prescription for these pills and are they sold at your local drug store alongside the aspirins and such???? Next time your there could you check for us? – Thanks

Endless Advice – 1

It is amazing that where ever you turn or whatever website you visit, i.e. newspaper or the such there are always tips and advice on relationships. How did we manage before the days of the internet???

No internet was there when I started dating to give me all the unnecessary advice to make me worry about if I am doing the right thing or not.

No we had our friends and that was it and amazingly we managed!!! What a surprise…. Or??
We survived our dates we had our sorrows and ups and downs but we just kept on with it and didn’t need a website to tell me which food to eat if my date went bad…. What should one eat I ask???? Chocolate, pizza and other junk food or be levelheaded and eat healthy food such as a salad….. Good question???

Then there’s the worst place to find a guy or gal….. That could be anywhere or is there a guarantee when you meet a person at a certain place that everything will be hunky-dory and if you meet that person in say a DIY store then well … you can write it off!! These problems that one must face to meet someone is burdening….

Or “why are you still single?” – That is a tricky question if you ask me, because there could be many factors involved here. Firstly, is the person really looking for someone and secondly, does that dream guy or gal actually exist??? A good thought. So naturally.. No scientist needed here; the person won’t meet anyone anyways and can say to everyone “No one is interested in me.” Bad luck on your part!

But a real winner is – How to get ready for a relationship. Everyone please tell me how this works… Thank you!!!

Now that I am ready for a relationship… Thank goodness, I was worried there for a moment! And I have a date now… what a relief

I have to worry about how to impress the person…. Pure stress and just the things I have to consider before the date here worries me. If I was single again and had to think about all this stuff I would give myself a heart attack!!

But there is the stuff you shouldn’t do on a first date. I guess that’s like you shouldn’t wear dirty clothes or maybe don’t pick your nose and hopefully go to a nice place and not some burger joint, though being on time could be important too… don’t you think so???

I think this is enough relationship and dating stuff for today, because this whole thing is just too much for me and will write more about it at another time. So for all you out there looking or dating remember don’t forget to follow all the tips and advice out there, otherwise your date may not go off as planned.

Menacing Menopause

It seems that recently where ever you turn you can read something about the menacing effects of menopause on women. It seems as if it is a disease and not something that happens to every woman on earth. Or is it that guys write those articles about gals going through the change of life??? Maybe they should be in our shoes and see how it really is and I am sure then they may understand us better….. Or at least I hope so.

Though when you list all the side effects; some I think have been with me for years even before that stage of life struck…. That I think my guy can confirm.

I’ll make a little humorous list here just in case everyone reading isn’t up-to-date on the symptoms:

1. Forgetfulness – What’s that??? I’ve had it for years and it has nothing to do with getting older !

2. Hot flashes – Please wear a sweater at our place in the winter, because I feel like it is about 80°F and my guy is sitting here reading the news paper and ice sickles are forming on his face.. Hot not at our place!

3. Mood swings – Me, never and why the h… are you looking at me like that? I’m always calm and cool no matter what!

4. Sudden tears – really great when something has gone wrong. Now I can cry automatically and everyone thinks – oh it’s just her age!!! The wonders of the body

5. Difficulty concentrating – great if you are in a boring meeting at work. No worries because you won’t remember what was said anyways!

6. Confusion – Where the heck am I? At home or at work? Help……

7. Headache- Not tonight dear.. I’m in that phase of life.

8. Weight gain- Ate tooooo much over Christmas , so what has that got to do with age????

So now all you gals out there know what to expect and guys you know what your gal may experience, so enjoy the change of life because it can be an adventure for everyone!

Weighty Waistlines

It’s the same problem every January; the weighty waistline. I have been reading today and trying to sort out which one of the thousands of tips and diet plans out there that will melt those dreaded holiday season accumulation of calories around my wait away. I find accumulation of calories somewhat better then saying ‘I’ve gained weight or gotten fat.” – I dread those words and avoid them at all possible costs!

I am not even sure if I will even try some of those crazy plans out there and isn’t it true that once you get past a certain age you only need to look at the food and it’s on your hips??? I feel that way and am not ashamed to say sooooooo. Nor should you be either. That’s life and somehow I have come to terms with it whether I like to admit it or not.

Somehow all those lonely items hanging in my closet saying to me …. Lose a couple of pounds and we can be friends again. That thought just makes me cry when I open my closet and all the things are just hanging there waiting so patiently for me to take them out and let them see daylight again. But somehow even with not eating tooooo much and exercising regularly my waistline just doesn’t want to be like it was when I was 20 years old. Why I ask… what have I done to deserve this???? Any answers out there??????

It seems to be a vicious cycle every year when the New Year starts in January we all seem to think about our waistlines and maybe go on a diet. How many people actually manage to loose and keep off those pounds that they have melted from their waistlines???

Another problem is – all the candy and chocolates that I have gotten for Christmas… That great tasting stuff just can’t be thrown away.. I need to enjoy it!!!! Or maybe if I just look at the box and not eat its contents then I will be saved, but I need will power to keep myself away from the box crying out to me saying “ open me up- and eat a few of the great tasting chocolates!”

Now that is really hard to resist no matter what you say!! So, that means that I will have to postpone my diet until I have enjoyed all the boxes of chocolates that I have received. But maybe after I have eaten all the chocolate and put myself on strict diet then maybe my lonely clothes that are hung in my closet can be my friend again??? And so I ask my closet “Please be patient and wait for me, because I do want to be friends with all my clothes again and then I will feel good!”

And I bet many people out there feel the same way I do. So, do as I and try to be friends with those items of clothes waiting patiently for you in your closet and you too will feel good too.”

What’s Cooking?

What’s cooking for the meal for that big day can be a tremendous feat if you are not organized to the last second or at least I think so???? Everyone seems to be running around trying to get those last minute things for their Christmas meal or the last minute present because they forgot someone on their list. Well, those things can happen….. I am saved from this dilemma this year because I am for ONCE in my life organized and believe me I find it hard to believe myself but it is true!!!

My guy asked me this morning if I was feeling ok, because I am soooooo organized this year. I told him that I thought for once in my life I want to be organized and have time for everybody on the 25th instead of spending all my time running around doing something. I want a relaxed Christmas and so I will have it!!!! No questions asked here- that is my decision!!!

My tree is decorated and the food is purchased and all my presents are bought; so Christmas you can come to our house. Who says life has to be stressful at this time of year??? Ok, I know thousands of people around the world would argue this point with me, but with a little foresight and planning there is no stress and hey if something goes wrong on the 25th then it goes wrong. I am too old to worry about what everyone thinks of how I do things around my place and if something burns on the stove top then it can be either forgotten or I’ll make something else to replace it… life can be so simple!

My mom was amazing when it came to organizing our Christmas dinner on the 25th and she always remained cool and served up a super meal in my eyes! Mom – thanks for all those great turkey dinners you made us. I know I can cook pretty good but my mom’s Christmas dinner can still top mine. Plus, I’ve never been as organized as she was and thought this year I’ll try her strategy and see if it works….. Please let it work and I’ll be the happiest person on earth

Another thing, I read all those articles about how stressed folks are or will be on the 25th. I always wonder are people stressed so then they have something to talk about or what is it??? Even when I am not organized I don’t feel stressed-out. I think society puts too much emphasis on stress and so everyone is convinced that on the 25th you have to be stressed instead of taking things as they come and enjoying life for a change.

So, relax and take things as they come because then there won’t be any stress and enjoy the day when it’s there!

Junk email

I noticed recently that I seem to be getting more spam/ junk emails in my email in box. You know as well as I do that these junk emails are really annoying to get and that you have to take the time to delete them. A never ending process!

I would love to ask those spammers: Do you enjoy getting spam in your email in box? And I bet they would say “no”.

I love to read the reference of the emails and I wonder to myself do these jokers realize that I am a women???

These can be really humorous from a woman’s point of view.

I would like to list a few here because I am sure there are some of you out there too who have received the same sort of spam.

Just to side track a moment remember when the name spam wasn’t something that you got via electronic post but a product that you could buy in the grocery store that was sold in a can.

I have always wondered what is the connection between these two??? Does anyone know the answer?

Anyways, here are some really great email headers:

1. Lose weight organically – How the heck is that supposed to work?

2. Increase your chest size with pills – Right pop a pill and with its placebo effect I can see my chest expanding two sizes within 2 weeks boosting my ego and draining my bank account.

3. Lengthen your male parts – How should I do this I don’t have any manly parts on my body. Do they know something that I don’t ?

4. The blue wonder pill – What should I do with the blue pill? I thought those were for guys or am I mistaken and is it really a wonder?

5. Meet the partner of your dreams in 3 easy steps – Wow, if life was that easy? Did someone tell them that I was single and only need to take 3 steps to meet a guy?

6. Better your marriage – Now I’m married. I am really getting mixed up. Am I single or married? Could someone tell me???

7. You just won 5 million dollars – That’s great, but how did I win it without playing any lotteries?

8. Play poker – I am not a card player or are they hoping that I will become one?

9. Make friends in your city – Are they saying that I don’t have any friends and should get out more and are they people I want to be friends with?

The list could be endless as to the headers which are on emails but one thing for sure is they can be entertaining even if they are annoying.

I always wonder is there anyone out the in the cyber world that actually looks at these emails and contacts the sender about the product? I am sure someone does.

Can imagine opening email number 5 on my list : Meet your partner of your dreams in three easy steps.

1. Send in $20.00
2. Receive a confirmation that they received your $20.00
3. Receive new email saying you need to send more money because there isn’t anyone in your area for you.
4. Send us another $ 20.00 and we will look again and there isn’t anyone for you – sorry but thanks for the money!
