Wonders of Washing Socks

It seems to be an amazing fact when there are scientific studies done on the loss of socks in the laundry…. I mean really now is this really something new or hasn’t it been around for years??? The bewildering facts of doing the laundry….

There you have it! Socks seem to take on their own life and wander off somewhere in the process of doing the laundry, but where do they go and where do they end-up??? This is mind boggling and the thought alone that one of my socks could just disappear is even worse then I thought…. OMG!!!

So, as an experienced person who does the laundry at our house, I got right down to the bare facts and looked at all the socks lying around the house, now believe me that is a lot of pairs or not pairs of socks…. Okay the not pairs seem to be singled out for polishing shoes and such, so I don’t feel so bad, but the others that just took-off ; well if I ever find them I will give them a piece of my mind!! Believe me….. They will wish that they never snuck out of the laundry basket!! Life can be hard for socks or so I think????? Maybe that is why they take-off and disappear????

HEADLINE: Socks on the run from washing machine

I got thinking about the life of a sock….. Okay, not very exciting really and if the wearer doesn’t have clean feet…. Ouch!!!! Not for me, and even if the wearer does have clean feet, just imagine caged up in a pair of shoes all day and not seeing anything and then in the evening taken off and thrown in the laundry basket… what kind of life is that???? Or maybe the person wears the same pair for a couple of days ….oohh and the poor sock may suffer even more then. These simple facts could be the reason why socks go astray. Though I am sure there could be other reasons too…

There it is laundry day (oh there are these thingies that keep your socks in pairs… personally I have never used them) and there are lots of tips too (or nowadays: life hacks). I’m old fashioned … sort the laundry out and throw it into the washing machine and of course after the machine is running there always seems be that odd sock that just springs up out of nowhere…. I could scream, but that won’t help either. Throw the gd sock back into the laundry basket and wash it next time if it is still there???? Sounds so adventurous to me.

But have you thought about your washing machine? I bet not…. Whether, front or top loader there within it is the drum with all its little holes hiding the secret workings of the machine itself. Maybe the socks get scared and take off through the holes or jump out of the machine when my back is turned getting the detergent. This I will never know …. But the mystery seems all so fascinating and I can understand that scientific studies must be done. Yes, mathematics could give us a statistical answer but which person doing the laundry is going to be thinking about statistics when turning the washing machine on…. Not me!

I use another method… Thanks mom!!! Put the socks together (knot them together- not tightly) when you take them off (matter of training yourself) and then when laundry day comes around sort out the laundry and when the socks pop-up only unknot them when you are going to put them into the washing machine and BINGO no lost socks and the mysteries of stray socks can be solved in a flash and all that without statistics or the such.

So, next time you take-off your socks and want to wash them; take time and see that they are in pairs to avoid that unavoidable runaway sock problem….

Shopping for shoes…. A worrying or trying job?

After reading an article about where women’s shoes are placed on shelves of shoe stores; it got me thinking and of course as a gal I rushed out to the nearest shoe store to take a look at where all the shoes were placed according to size.

What I mean is top shelf small sizes or are there stores with large sizes first….. The challenges of trying to find a pair of shoes and now with summer approaching there are the summer styles too.

OMG… I feel stressed out before evening looking for my size. Now where I live sneakers are all the rage in every style and color and price range. Okay, sneakers are nice and comfortable, but I as a gal don’t want to wear them with every outfit… Shoe makers take heed!!!

Then as I looked through the rows of sneakers … of course they were the first to see when I entered the shoe store and yes, small sizes on the top shelf and larger sizes place on the lower shelves…. Bigger your foot the more you need to bend-over to find your size. But all those sneakers staring at me didn’t have that “ flare” that is needed to compel me to buy them. Plus the sandal styles are almost exactly the same as last year…. Now what??? I bought a new pair Last year and they still look like new…. Okay, don’t tell anyone or they may point down at my sandals and say “ Ah, last year’s style”….. A traumatizing thought indeed.

As a gal I need those sandals or maybe even a pair of sneakers before the warm weather comes. What would happen if a warm day fell upon us and there I was out and about without my sandals on or my new summer sneakers??? I hope I don’t get any gray hairs from this worrying thought!!!

I have looked and searched the shelves of endless shoe stores only to leave them in a bewildered state thinking to myself…. “Where should I go next or just say the heck with it and go home?” But my shoe money is burning a hole in my pocket… I have to buy a new pair or else be crowned the wearer of last summer’s shoe style.. HELP

Shoes are always screaming out at me no matter where I turn or where I am… on TV commercials, in magazines or on billboards…. SHOES… SNEAKERS saying buy me you need me and you will look good any have lots of friends if you wear these. What do I do now??? Confusion is twirling around in my brain… I need all those shoes… I want to be cool and have thousands of friends; Okay maybe thousands of friends is a bit over doing it, but not being cool… OMG!!

The perils of shopping for shoes! I hope you find the pair you are looking for… and enjoy them

The Importance of a Woman’s Brain

Gal’s brains too are full of great things as I learned from this past weekend’s newspaper too… Now I can honestly say that I can finally understand myself after all these years… Ok, it’s taken awhile but I know now!!!

It is said that gal’s brains are divided into sections too, so that we have at least something in common with guy’s brains… what a small world it seems to be!!!

Diet section: I’ve been watching my weight for years, but I can always find something new to think about when it comes to dieting like: no candy bars for the next 2 days.. And now I already feel better with this thought because it is part of my diet.

Hair section: A nightmare when your hair doesn’t look good and I have a bad hair day…. No more thoughts today except my hair … OMG!!!!!

What to wear section: Oh, that takes up a major section of my brain and when I open my closet door and stand there I have make that all decisive decision “ what do I wear today?” – You can sort of compare this to a multi-million dollar decision as to how to run a company… But running a company could be easier!!!

Shoe section: Key section and equal to the “what to wear section”…. I love my shoes so much that my brain cells are shaped like shoes… to keep my thoughts focused.

Spending money section: Stores here I come!! But this section of the brain is connected to your wallet, so how much you spend depends on how much money is in your wallet… but a degree of happiness is always there.

Speaking section: Now, I would rate this as the utmost important section of a gal’s brain because many of us gal’s love to talk and I can only speak for myself… I could talk for hours and never run out of things to say!

So, gal’s when you put all those great sections of your brain together we have great thoughts, and talking about that… Have a happy time thinking about whatever it may be!

Have to be Happy?

Now here’s an eye opener. The happiness agency; how this operates I have no idea but I am sure that it will bring happiness to hundreds of people who visit it – hopefully ??????
Sure happiness is many different things and we all have different ideas as to how we are happy or will be happy. But an agency to help me be happy …. WOW!!! How can they do that???

Here it is: I am standing there with my number ( very important… don’t want to butt- ahead of anyone would I?) dreaming of how I will be happier.. I am happy or at least I thought I was, but then again I may be side tracked with my happiness thoughts and not have the right kind of happy thoughts.

What makes me and my guy happy??? Well lots of things my list could circle globe if I wrote them all down. Isn’t the saying” it’s the simple things in life that make us happy”. Ok, that is passé´- the thought we need is to be modern up-to-date and keep with the times no more old fashioned happy thoughts about simple things….. I need modern thinking, so what is modern happiness???

After pondering a bit on this questions and phoning around to a couple of my gal friends we came up with some ideas… ok, it’s our point of view and not the rest of the worlds view, but then again I haven’t the time to question everyone. So, sorry when I didn’t ask you, and please don’t be upset with me. Thank you!

Modern happiness could be:

1. Having a new cell phone so I can contact the world and be online to tell everyone that I just bought my phone…. Happiness – for how long???

2. New shoes – wow they look good and I only spent a month’s salary on them, but I’m worth it… Aren’t I or did I have some bills to pay???

3. A vacation …. Now that can bring happiness but it only lasts as long as no one gets into argument, but otherwise we’re having a great time… I am happy!!!

4. New watch – as long as one of my friends don’t go out and buy a more expensive model then I have… Then I’m not happy

5. New handbag – Life at its best for a gal and nothing can hold her back as long as she is carrying her new handbag with her or until an acquaintance buys an up-graded model! Life can be so painful when it comes to handbags….

It seems modern happiness is only attached to buying stuff and not to the inner happiness that we once knew or has that disappeared somehow through the years? I think it’s important to be happy but I don’t need an agency to help me be happy. I can be happy myself and I bet those other people could be too, if they wanted to and made an effort; instead of worrying about how can I spend my money and then I will be happy.

Have a happy day and remember it doesn’t cost a cent to smile…. That’s what so great about them!!!

Love

Love – What is love? A good question if you ask me, ok, you didn’t. But I got wondering about the word “love” and its meaning and what does it mean to people.

Yes, tomorrow is the big “I love you” day. But even after reading all the definitions of the word love and what scientists say love is. I am still wondering about the word……

I asked some of my friends what the word “love” meant and I got many answers to my question and it didn’t always have to do with a relationship with someone. Love spread far and wide and wasn’t limited to another human. So, what is “love” if it doesn’t only have to do with another human????

• enjoying a meal – I loved that

• a movie – I loved that movie

• the beach – I love the beach

• a glass of wine – I love this wine

• a beer – I love beer ( didn’t want to leave the beer drinks out)

• my car – I love my car ( how true in our house- who/ what does my guy love more- me or the car???)

• a walk – I love to take a walk

• a book – I loved reading that book

• coffee – I just love this coffee

• cell phone – I love my cell phone ( would be lost without it!)

• a day out – I just loved our day out

• my shoes- I love my new shoes ( gals – I couldn’t forget us)

Those are soooooo many things with the word “love” and it seems that we really never think about how often we use the word “love” and that it doesn’t have to do with real love… It’s just a saying or a use of words in a sentence with the word “love”, but do we really mean it when we say “love” in those sentences????

Maybe the word “love” should be reconsidered and then I would really know what “love” is? Because it seems this word cannot be pinpointed to a definite thing or person…… Love is everywhere.

Take time for “love” and not only for that one day a year but every day and maybe “love” can be enjoyed then in all its aspects….. Love is a great word!!

Looking Good & Feeling Good

It is always a surprise to read that there is more to life for women then just hanging around the house or going to the office. Thank goodness I say because without looking and feeling good life would be a horror trip for me!!

Now it is said that we gals have finally said what makes us feel good or look good. I know the little things in life are important but all the other stuff that I didn’t know about really was an eye opener for me.

So I got on the phone right away to my other gal friends to organize that we meet-up for a coffee and talk about this. Some of my friends hadn’t heard about this so they were very thankful that I brought this too their attention and like life can be my guy didn’t understand this looking and feeling good stuff because in his eyes we gals are always preoccupied with those thoughts…… ok, maybe a bit but not 100% of the time.

My thoughts are on great things like handbags, shoes and a good cup of coffee! What more does a gal need for a good life??? Please don’t answer that question, ok?

While talking to my friends we decided to list some of the things and of course add our comments to them because I think those seemed to be forgotten when they printed the article.

1. Finding a bargain – I feel good right-a-way and want to show the world that I saved money but it only took me 5 hours of my time to save that money…. Savings… where???

2. A person you don’t know giving you a compliment – it depends on the person doesn’t it and what the complement was? Nothing worse than a complement that isn’t true and only said because the person just wants to talk to you… Bad move!!

3. Having comfortable underwear on – defiantly not romantic but hey who can see what I am wearing under my clothes… or do I have sign on me that says “I’m wearing comfortable underwear today”… defiantly information that we all need!

4. Getting some flowers – Oh that could be like treading on thin ice! Did my guy give me the flowers because he loves me or does he have a bad conscious because he was out with the guys watching the game the other night? What could be the reason – love or guilt??

5. Being told I lost weight – did they forget their glasses and what do they want from me??? Bad advice…….

6. Getting a present – Thank you!! I love gifts as long as it isn’t something useful for the house.

7. Hearing that I look younger than I actually am – good for a couple of minutes but after that I’ve forgotten what they said anyways…. I’m getting old

8. Having sexy underwear on – a sure fire way to scare the daylights out of my guy!!!

9. Being hugged – Ok, if it’s the right person but I don’t want to be hugged by a complete stranger.

After me and my gal friends went through the list we found out that we really weren’t happier or feeling better than before. It just made us think about life more and what is going on in and around us.
I think just enjoy life as best as you can and without all the charts and studies we can be happy and feel good too.

Shoes

This is a disease like the handbag disease. You can’t seem to have enough of them but thank goodness there are 4 seasons, so this gives us gals a chance to as I like to put it: „acquiring what I need for the new season”, because then I don’t have to feel so guilty about my wonderful new pair of shoes that I bought but maybe really didn’t need. I don’t want to be caught with a pair of past season shoes on – oh what a horrendous thought that makes me shiver, because every passerby would point down to my feet and say:” She has a pair of shoes on from last year.” I could scream!

Though those sneaky shoe manufactures always like to pull a fast one on us when the season is in full swing by adding a couple of new styles which make life difficult because you just bought a new pair of shoes a couple of weeks ago. These are the perils of life.

Let’s start with winter: It’s cold outside so we need something warm & stylish on our feet. The choice of winter boots is amazing!
You have the practical sort which do actually keep your feet warm but don’t do much in the way of making you look good. But it’s a must have in every household. Then there are the more stylish sorts, not really there to keep your feet warm but they look so goooood on! These babies can be dangerous if there’s a lot of snow and it’s slippery – you could sprain your ankle or something like that because the heels are so high. The main thing here is fashion and who cares about cold feet or spraining your ankle?
At least I don’t think about it. My only concern is a great looking pair of winter boots! And I am sure many of you think the same way too.

Springtime: The weather is warming up and we can shed our winter boots and say good-bye to those trusted soles, and move on to the pumps, high heels, sneakers or whatever your style is. But this means a new pair or pairs (depending on your storage space at home) for this season. And naturally, 1 pair for just wandering around in and a couple more for the just in case occasion. Always be prepared is my motto -> You never know you may get asked out unexpectedly and you don’t want to be caught short without the right shoes that match the handbag that you bought last month. The thought of those things not being color coordinated is like committing a crime because everyone’s eyes are focused on your handbag and shoes. I am feeling stressed out even before being asked out.

Summertime: This is a very stressful time when it comes to buying shoes because I always feel I need at least 20 pairs for every temperature range and to match what I am going to wear that day. Then like always; as you all know there’s a new model just around the corner creating a strain on our pocketbooks. But you need it because it matches that new dress you bought the other day. I mean really can you image wearing the sandals that matched the blue dress with the new dress that you just bought??? I can’t because that is a definite no go and all your friends will point down at your feet and say: “You should have bought a pair of sandals to go with the dress too, because we all do that.” This is like being pointed out as the odd one out.

Then comes fall and the cool weather meaning we are heading towards the winter cycle and this means out again to the shoe store for the newest model. I feel broke already just writing this here and spring hasn’t even started.

I think women were born with a special gene inside us especially programmed to buy handbags and shoes because without these two wonderful accessories life wouldn’t be so meaningful. What is it that attracts us to these two items and that we have to have them?
And that we fill our closets with these things and sometimes never even wearing the shoes or using the handbag. But you can say what you want about that last sentence, it does look good when you open the door to your closet and there staring at you all those lovely pairs of shoes and next to them all those lovely handbags.
It’s a feeling that can warm your heart!

Remember don’t forget to make room for the coming season and gently say good-bye to the winter boots that you so loving wore.

Handbags

All you gals know this is something we can’t live without and when we see a newer model it just eats away at our hearts wishing we had that model too.

Handbags come in all shapes and sizes and there’s one for every occasion. I read or someone told me ( I can’t remember) years ago that if you carry a large handbag you have lots of problems and if you carry a smaller model well you know the answer!

Handbags come in all price ranges from inexpensive to ones that cost as much as a car. I ask myself: What do you do with a handbag that costs as much as a car does? Though I do have an idea for example – Maybe set it in the corner of the living room under a glass dome so it won’t get dusty and you can admire it while sitting on the sofa or otherwise, if you use it,it could get damaged or someone could steal it and there you go your cherished handbag with all its contents is gone for good.( A very sad thought indeed.)

Handbags are great things because you can carry around all our beloved possessions inside that we need for our life, and like I just wrote to lose this beloved handbag with its beloved contents would bring tears to my eyes. Worse than being left by your partner!

Handbags are a symbol which says who you are or who you would like to be, either way you want to say something about yourself. And this is a fact whether we would like to admit it or not. And some gals can be very jealous of the other gal’s handbag because they think the other model is better than theirs and they don’t have one like that. I find this soooo stupid because you should be happy with your trusty companion – your handbag.

Just look around you there’s someone with a large handbag with all of life’s possessions in it and probably the kitchen sink too. Then there’s the very small evening bag – I really don’t know what you can fit into it and if you wear glasses you can forget it.

The colors of handbags are endless you can buy one to match every piece of clothing or pair of shoes that you own, but somehow you never seem to have the right color or model when you are invited out on a special occasion, so that means off to the stores to find the one that fits to what you want to wear. I find this is like looking for needle in a hay stack sometimes because the more you look you never seem to find the right handbag.

And of course when you are not out looking for one to buy there is proudly on display in the store screaming out at you “Buy me – you need me!” This can be an especially painful experience when you don’t have the right amount of small change with you to make the needed purchase. I could cry now when I think about the times I have seen that handbag in a store screaming at me and longing that I will be its new owner, but only to say “sorry handbag, I can’t buy you today because I need my money for something else.” Oh how painful and I am sure you gals know exactly what I am talking about.

I feel my handbag is my little secret world where I keep all my prized possessions in it and it is nobody else’s business what I have in it. But I have noticed through the years men are always curious to see what is inside this mysterious bag and want to know what is inside it. But why? I need to do some research on this question and maybe can report back to you with some interesting answers.

Always remember enjoy your handbag because it is your most faithful companion throughout life and because it’s always there by you side through better or worse!
