SORRY NO TIME FOR FRIENDS!

Do you have time for your friends? The scary truth of the matter is that since the cell phone was invented no one has time for real-time friendship…… Where have all my friends gone??? Anyone seen them around? I better start looking for them now before it is too late.

It seems like people are spending more time with their cell phones then taking time for a real life conversation and that some folks have just had enough of it and said to the person that they don’t want to be their friend anymore. I am glad that I haven’t been struck with this disease!

Why has the cell phone become soooooo important to people and they are letting it take over their lives????? It’s a tough question to answer… but maybe you know the answer?

That little device seems to have made it so no one knows how to talk anymore or when you are talking to someone and your cell phone rings then all of a sudden the person you were talking too is forgotten and the phone is more important and to see who sent me a message or what is going on in my social network. How sad; I say. Why should the cell phone have to control your life? We lived years without it and somehow we were always connected and in the loop.

The wonders of yesteryear… Somehow back then I knew what was going on in my friends lives and I had time for them because we weren’t distracted by some device that wanted to inform me that someone in the virtual world out there has just posted a photo of their new pair of shoes or some other useless piece of info that I really don’t need to know.

But then again with the right cell phone I am in and hip and up-to-date in the virtual world but the sorry truth is that my real time friends aren’t there anymore or just don’t have time for me either because of their virtual social networks…. Will the spoken word get lost to the text message and correct spelling will only be able to be seen in a museum that shows books that were printed before a certain date???

The thought of spending hours on end with my cell phone texting messages or networking would be boring and it just doesn’t replace good friends and conversation!

Take time for real time friendship; it could be more fun than texting if you try it!

Help I’m not wearing make-up

Low and behold another earth moving statistic about women wearing make-up. Couldn’t those researchers find something else to research besides make-up?

I was brought up with the idea that you shouldn’t wear make-up 24/7 so as to let your skin breath. But what do I know???

Now-a-days a gal wouldn’t step foot out of the house without paint on her face because it is too stressful for her, and let alone go on a date because the guy may see what she really looks like. What’s the world turning into when a gal is afraid that someone may see her without make-up on?? Does anyone have an answer????

Just image a guy decides to spend the night at your place for the first time and he wakes up in the morning only to be shocked by what he sees and almost has a heart attack because he has never seen the gal without make-up on her face. The guy may think that he has landed in the wrong bed with a stranger and not who he thought he went home with. Poor guy!

Whatever happen to the good’ol facial cream, mascara and lipstick? With those three simple products you can look good too. But when you use only those three products then the make-up industry could go broke.

What is it with all those companies trying to manipulate us gals into thinking that if we don’t wear make-up we’ll be stressed out. I ask myself: How have I survived so long by not always wearing make-up when I leave the house?

My boyfriend knows what I look like without make-up on and he finds it good. I am not ashamed of how my skin looks without make-up on and other gals shouldn’t be either.

Our skin was made that way and the real version can look good too. I have nothing against wearing make-up but why should you have to hide behind it, because sooner or later everyone you know will see you without it on.

Years ago the natural look was in but those days seem to be gone and it seems that everyone is hiding behind their make-up from the real world but they expose themselves on social networks on the internet without make-up, So where’s the sense in these studies if they are true at all and what are they trying to achieve with them???

I think gals should be a bit more confident and enjoy a make-up free day and you will be surprised at how nice it can be.

On the Bus

I normally travel on public transport because I would like to do my small share for the environment but that is not what I want to write about here.

Have you ever taken a good look around you to see what everyone is up too while they try to pass their time on the bus either traveling to work or just out and about. Everyone seems either engrossed in their mobile devices or some sort of book. I personally find the mobile device users the best group to observe, because they always seem to be in their own world oblivious to what’s going on around them.

When someone is talking on their cell phone (recently a young woman) who was telling her friend how she broke-up with her boyfriend and how she showed him that’s how life is.

The conversation went something like this:
You know … I told Tom in no uncertain terms that if he didn’t take me out on Friday evening that I would leave him and you won’t believe what he said…He said no I am not going to take you out on Friday evening because I want to watch the soccer game on TV with my friends. And I told him that he had to take me out, but he had the nerve to say no to me and that I could go out with you or one of my other friends.

So, as you can image I said- then good! And told him if he doesn’t change his mind within the next 10 minutes I am going to leave him for good.
Then he said: good you can go, but I am watching soccer on TV no matter what!
Well, I flipped out and called him #$& and *%! And that didn’t even phase him. What kind of guy is he? …..a bit of silence …. (Just a note-she was talking so loud that the whole bus could hear her and enjoy the story too.)

Well (she went on) I left him and went to my mom’s place and went out with Mark on Friday evening and we had a great time together and I ended up at his place.
I should have gone out with him ages ago. I am not sure if Tom even misses me? I haven’t seen him but heard that he went out with Kathy after the soccer game on Friday evening. Can you just image that; he doesn’t even miss me. You know I was the best thing he ever had and he doesn’t even realize it.

What’a jerk! I know in the next couple of days he will come crawling on his knees begging me to come back.

Unfortunately, I can’t say how the story ended because she got off the bus. Maybe if I am lucky she will board the bus and continue the moving story of how she left her boyfriend.
Who left who is always the question here because I can only hear one side of the story.

Then there are the social network cell phone users who are hoping that someone has contacted them or they have gained a so called new friend or they have to report to everyone that they are sitting on the bus.

I mean really isn’t that something you have always wanted to know or that they are sending text messages and their phone makes a sound every couple of minutes – they are someone and they are being contacted. What more would you want from life?

I wonder sometimes how I manage to get through my bus trip without receiving 50 text messages or not participating in some social network or telephoning and telling the world about my problems.

Am I the odd one out or has life changed so much that everyone can’t survive with a cellular device? I don’t want to be reachable 24/7. I want a life outside my cell phone even on the bus.

Maybe that’s why I have taken to watching all these people because it’s getting to be just as good as a TV program. I will stay tuned to my next bus adventure and if it’s good I will share it with you.
