This year too….

Like every year it starts off with a bang from the fireworks and then it’s there the commercials and ads for dieting to lose weight that you may have put on during the holiday season … Me; I don‘t gain weight!!

My clothes may have shrunk in size, maybe I washed them in tooo warm water, but, no it can’t be true that I gained weight during the holiday season!! Though according to all the ads and new diets to try I must have!! I could scream, maybe that would help…

I got to looking at some of those promising diets out there that will give me a figure like a goddess in 12 weeks ( really I have to suffer eating pea sized amounts of food for 3 months …. Neh… too much work for me!!) Then after I finish that diet I have to think about the summer bikini diet…. Though no worries… I think I’ll pass on that one too!! I’m past the bikini stage of life and if I put one on I would probably scare everyone off the beach if they saw me….. AHHHH

This year I thought I need to go on a diet at least once in my life, so after watching all the commercials on TV and glancing magazines; I decided on a magazine that offers a DVD workout too…. Now I am on the way to my goddess figure…. Watch out world!!!

I rushed home with my magazine the other day and just the name of this diet “ Detox your system and easy Yoga”. Really now, what could be easier?? I ask…. I looked at the recipes and jotted down what I need to buy ( I will be bankrupt once I buy everything on the list). Okay I’ll admit not all recipes are for me and don’t look very tasty either. I’ll just make the ones that I like and skip the others.

But, before I start I need to watch the DVD with the easy yoga exercises that will turn my figure into ……. Who knows what by the time I am finished….. Let’s wait and see! Oh, I forgot to mention that I even bought new yoga training clothes to make my workout better.

I popped the DVD into the TV and got ready for action….. There are 3 sections for each part of your body and lots of stuff to read before starting. To be honest I am starting to feel tired already, so I think I’ll get myself a cup of tea and then sit down and watch the first section which is 15 minutes long (all sections are). Not to forget this is for everyone as it says. I feel relieved to know this…. Thanks

The music starts( not very motivating) there the women shows me what to do and carries-on for the 15 minutes and telling me how much fun all this is… Somehow I seem to be missing the action, and it all seems like toooo much work for me! I hit the FF button and skip to the detox recipe ( I hope it tastes good, because I am getting hungry after watching all that exciting action!!)

There before my eyes Miss Yoga starts making a detox drink out of various green veggies and keeps saying that it doesn’t taste good but you should drink it… I started counting how many times she said it tasted terrible and she said it at least 10 times, so there is no way that I am going to make myself one of those green concoction drinks… No,thank-you!!!

After my afternoon filled with a DVD exercises and the detox recipe; I already feel as if I have lost at least 3 pounds, so I think that I can take it easy for the rest of the next 12 weeks and wait for the next new bikini diet DVD to be with the next magazine and I can watch it too and see those pounds just melting away as I sitting on my sofa enjoying a good workout watching a DVD.

Enjoy your dieting whichever one you choose!

Wonderful Weekdays

Week days come and go but isn’t each day a special day in the week and not just a name? Well, I think so. Even if you didn’t ask me.

Days come and go the same as weeks and years. A week has just about ended and we are almost at the end of the second month in 2015…. But what about those days of the week that come and go and we only remember that it was one of those days…. Or was it a special day??? It could have been but no one noticed it. There seems to be a day for everything thing nowadays and I just can’t seem to keep up with them all… I have a good memory (My brain is still working….. Thank goodness!! I was getting a bit worried) But do I really need to know all those days???

Years ago there weren’t so many just the usual ones and that was it. Normally for some famous person or such. Now there is the coffee day, dog day, and so forth… My list could be from my house and probably span around the globe if I looked up what each day stood for…. To be honest I won’t; I’ll leave that job for someone else to do. Thank you, and when you are finished please let me know the exact number.

I have taken this issue to another dimension because the thought started the other day while I was at the office and contemplating …. I love to do that (but don’t tell anyone!!). There are seven days in the week, maybe there should be more, but I am happy with seven. If you want more days please do not complain to me about it because it isn’t my department….. Go to the – I need more days department where whoever is in charge may be able to help you. Though I do have my doubts about that!!!

Days could be like this:

Serious Saturdays – I mean really I am always serious on this day, no monkeying around just serious housework (that I dislike doing…. And maybe some of you out there too feel the same way I do???)This is a job that has to be tackled with the seriousness of being well organized and scheduled. Which means do not bother me until my multi-organized household chore schedule has been completed…. How quick I am depends on who phones first and where should we meet-up for a cup of coffee…. Plus, what do I want to clean today??? Always a somewhat moving question that boggles my brain each time I ask myself that question…. Though sometimes, I do have to be careful that I don’t argue with myself about what I should do first. The problems of serious Saturdays.

Sentimental Sundays – Sundays seem to be a great day to be sentimental; you can sit back and take it easy and reminisce about all sorts of things and dream about the good’ol days or something else that occupies your mind and just let your thoughts wander to all those pleasant times that took place in your life. A must in my book… we need some pleasantries in our life and not always worries, so maybe being sentimental could help. There are so many pleasant things that have happened in my life and they are great to think about and always bring a smile to my face…

Mellow Mondays – Oh, the beginning of the week again and I have to go to the office… Mondays are a day where thoughts should be collected, strategies may be planned and so forth… being concentrated and mellow makes it so much easier to deal with all that stuff instead of panicking because it is Monday. Mondays have been around for years and will be, so why not take the day in stride instead of dreading it????

Tension on Tuesdays – The week is here and now I really need to start working… getting those emails answered, writing that report… the deadline is approaching and I still have to attend a meeting… that does put a bit of tension in the day, but hey it is Tuesday and it is a day when tension is in the air.

Working Wednesdays – This is a day that one should be the most productive… At least that is what I read once. Though to be honest I am a bit skeptical about that theory. I work on all the other days too. I know there are the scales to assess how much you have achieved and how productive a person is…. Actually, I recently tried the email theory… only answer emails once every 3 or 4 hours….. Well, believe me if you want stress in your life do that!!!!! Those folks who sent me emails wanted answers and not wait half a day for a reply…. Sorry, but that theory does not work in my job!!

Tempting Thursdays – Now Thursdays are actually the day to prepare for the weekend, because everywhere you can read about what is going on where you live, etc…. That alone always makes me start thinking about what should I do on the weekend??? It can be so tempting…. Shopping (a gals favorite pastime), a movie, meet friends, or watch TV…. I have to decide today before it is too late and all the options to do something are not there anymore tomorrow…… Look out world … I am going to plan something for the weekend !!!!!

Frustrating Fridays – A day of deadlines and I hope that everyone else in the office has met the deadline too, or else S… will hit the fan and I do not want to be party to that event! I know some people enjoy that sort of thing but not me…. It seems like lots of people are frustrated on Fridays not only because of work… I believe it is a lack of planning that they could have done on Temping Thursdays that would have avoided the frustration on Fridays.

Whatever day it is make the best of it and enjoy it!

Time For A Change

Four great words that we hear a lot nowadays, but who really changes???? Change can be so many things and what should change is always a question that requires a bit of thought before one changes…

Now with spring just waiting out there somewhere for us and all the Easter decorations are now being sold in the stores it can mean only one thing… spring is on its way and now it is time to start with the spring cleaning or at least the idea is good…
I have been thinking about the topic of spring cleaning and changing things around maybe or throwing some of my unwanted treasures out that you can barely see because they are hidden under an inch of dust…

Now that is something we collect whether we like it or not… our friend “DUST” and it seems that everyone collects it too and it is not just something that a certain group of people have either…. Dust sort of gives us all something in common; even if you don’t want to admit it!

Because I bet you have dust at your house too, just like I do!

I find nobody ever takes the time to think about that inch of dust that has accumulated on their books or nick-knacks and if dust could talk I am sure it could tell us some really interesting tales too. As dust is always presented as something that you must hate and always try to tackle it with the latest cleaning gadget or duster or whatever… Dust has turned into one of the most hated things in our households….

I dislike dust too just like the next person but I will not let it get the best of me either…. So, that means making some changes, but what do I change and what do I throw-out??? All that stuff even if it is a dust collector has great memories attached to it, and it is so hard to part with those loving memories… I feel like if I throw those dust collectors out I am throwing a part of myself away and that I can’t do… But it is time for a change. Yes, the change will be that I will dust and so then I can see what is under the dust. And after I can see what was hidden under the layer of dust then I won’t want to change.

I notice on TV that every house they show has no dust in it and wonder how do they manage that??? Do they have a team of people on call to tackle the dust right away as soon as it is seen???? Or the neighborhoods shown on TV too that are all shiny – do they have a dust patrol just waiting for dust and then go after it before it gets a chance to settle on something??? What happened to having something in common with other people…. DUST

I bought one of those things the other day that you can run over the table or such and the dust will stick to it like a magnet… Well, I guess after awhile the magnet part said the heck with it and seemed to let the dust lay there or just seems to make it move to another section on the bookcase… I guess dust just likes my house, so I will have to think of another change as to how to say good-bye to the winter dust and welcome the spring dust…. Always questions that need to be answered

Enjoy dusting !

Fashion for the Fashionable

I would love to be fashionable. All I read lately is about the latest fashion trends how I should dress what I should buy and which make-up I should use…. Boy is it stressful being a woman just trying to keep-up with all this stuff, and where do I start first??? Hair, clothing or make-up… I am confused and need help! Plus to top things off there is the desk stationary that I need too for my office to match my mood or what I am wearing. Could life be more complicated????

Ok, I know I don’t visit all those fashion shows; I see enough of them on TV or you can read about it somewhere, so I know I won’t be left behind in the fashion jungle… Those models out there make me feel like I look like a whale. There is no way on earth that I will ever be able to fit into one of those slinky little dresses or teeter along the street in those high heels. Who wears that stuff??? I have never in my whole life up to now ever seen anyone wearing any of those outfits whether at a party or to work. They must be somewhere out there hiding from me… But where???

Now that fall/ autumn is approaching at the speed of light, there’s the need for the new fall hair cut… But which one?? I just had a summer hair cut and that was in then and my hair doesn’t grow that fast for the next season’s hair cut.. I’ll fall into the bad hair cut group of people … Last season’s hair cut.. OUTCH !! Hairdressers please be patient with us our hair takes time to grow.

Then there’s the right color of clothes to choose from that HOPEFULLY will be in for at least a month. The color pink was mention… I love pink but is that the right color for me and will it be out again at the end of the month before I even get a chance to get used to my new look??? Buying the wrong colored clothes may end in a disaster, because I don’t know what color will be in in October… Going to the office with the wrong colored outfit on will defiantly not get me a seat on the board of directors, but instead a little note saying” this month is not a pink month!” The trials and trivia of trying to keep-up with the fashion of today. Ohje

Not just that’s a problem to make sure I am wearing the right hat on my head too that I hope won’t ruin my summer haircut… Now what color do I buy and it must match my new fall coat… do I want to stand-out in a crowd or do I want a subdued color that signifies fall ??? I need help!!!

So far I seem to be having difficulties in deciding what to wear and how I should look, but thanks to all the advice out there I know what make-up to buy. Now if it matches my skin tone that’s another story but at least I can say I bought what is in for the fall season, and another little problem arises here too. Everything is sold in tubes that contain enough make-up for a year… Now what?? I can’t wear the September colored blusher in October. Everyone will notice it right away…

And all the beauty tips they seem to change from month to month too. Which tip do I use or where to I turn to for the right beauty tip of the month?? This is all so confusing. HELP!!

My final little problem is what stationary – what seasonal color should I have on my desk and do I need a pen that has ink in it with fall colors and if I send out something on the wrong colored stationary am I doomed as not having a fashionable desk?

Please everyone be patient with me when it comes to fashion trends; I just can’t keep up with them fast enough, So if we meet on the street don’t be surprised if I am wearing a color from last month and my hair cut is from the summer and my make-up isn’t the latest color either… that’s how life really is!!!

Perfect times – are they lost?

Perfect times seem to be a thing of the past. I got thinking-I can still do that; an amazing fact!!! About how it was when I was I kid. Life seemed sooooo perfect and the books we read or the TV shows we watched were full of happy people and there was never violence. Those were happy times!!!

What sparked this off was an old TV show that I saw on TV the other day; depicting the happy family. You may remember – Mom stayed home and cooked and was always perfectly groomed and smiling no matter what happened – Are mom’s like that today???
The kids were clean and happy and never complained. Dad was happy too and came home in the evening with a smile on his face as if he just had the best day in his life…. Maybe he did and we just don’t know what he was up too??? I don’t want to ruin the perfectness here… so the dad had a great day at work and is plain old happy!!!

Then there was the great book with Dick & Jane and their dog Spot – that book taught me to read and everyone depicted in the book was happy even the mom & dad. Happiness never seemed to stop. It was everywhere you turned and I was happy too, and didn’t know any better. Life was full of happiness.

I can’t remember as a kid my parents even arguing…. They were happy too, ok- they got upset with me once in a while or our dog but those were only trivial setbacks as I see it now. But back then that meant the end of the world, if I got in trouble!!!

Somehow through the years people stopped being so happy on TV and the people around me don’t seem as happy as they were years ago either. What has happened to being happy?????? Or has the world changed soooo much that people have forgotten what it is like to be happy.

Sometimes I wish for those carefree and happy days of the past again, because people seemed more relaxed and not always in a hurry or worrying about the latest up-date on their social network or some other device that distracts us, so that we have no time to relax and enjoy life.

It would be great to see more content & happy people around – and not in the superficial sense either. Will those sort of days ever come back or are they lost forever??????????

Zapping through the channels

Zapping through TV channels can be a great past time when you have nothing to do or there isn’t anything to watch on TV…. I would say most of the time there isn’t anything to watch or????

Well, there is bad news abound about your remote control and …… Where did you put it??? Any ideas or has that device decided to hide itself somewhere in your house??? It is said that we spend two whole weeks of our lives searching for that object so we can zap through the channels of our TV’S.

If I had only known that years ago I could have saved myself some time and done something else… What… look for my keys!!

Keys are like TV remote controls, and reading glasses can be put in this category too! It always seems to me that where ever you put your keys they are never there when you are looking for them and I will never understand it??? I know I left my keys in my handbag but now they aren’t there and seemed to have hidden themselves somewhere else in the house… but where???? Or there are the reading glasses. I know I left then on the nightstand by the bed and now where the heck have they taken off too???

And then the remote has gone missing too. It was on the coffee table this morning when I left the house and now it’s not there. I need to send out a search party in my house to find all that stuff because I think those objects get together when no one’s home and think about ways” how can we annoy her and she will have to search all over the house to find us.”

I bet you have those problems too at your place but may not want to admit it. And what is really interesting about all this is that this problem isn’t a new one. My parents had the same problem without the remote control, because I was the remote control… I bet if I got a dollar for each time my dad misplaced his reading glasses or keys when I was a kid; I would have been a millionaire by the time I was 20, but as luck would have it, my dad never gave me a dollar for each time he misplaced something- too bad…

Plus maybe you have heard this too at your place (it’s common at ours) “ What did you do with the remote control?”

I answer: I haven’t seen it.

My guy: I know you had it because you have been home all afternoon.

Please, tell me what does that have to do with the remote control when I never ever stepped foot into the living room but somehow I am guilty. This logic seems to always amaze me. What do I know I only live here!!

So, I think I better get more organized because I don’t … I repeat don’t want to waste too much of my time looking for the remote control when I can be looking for my glasses or keys, Enjoy your search at your place too!!

Soccer Mania

The soccer excitement is still going strong in some countries but my guy is devastated because his countries team lost to Italy turning his life into a disaster.. the perils of being a soccer fan!

Yesterday seemed as if the world had ended even though we had nice weather outside. But the loosing of his team brought a dark cloud over our house and he and his buddies sat there in the living room with water in their eyes. A very moving moment for anyone looking at them all there in my living room.
I could be a wise guy and say “ I wish I filmed it”, but that’s being a bit harsh on them.

I sympathize with them all but somehow I cannot get so emotional about the whole thing – maybe this is a guy thing and gals just aren’t tuned into such things when it comes to soccer matches. I really don’t know.

But anyways; there’s a cute turtle that was to forecast which team would win and he seemed to get a bit sidetracked with the passing away of his cousin the 100 year old turtle and forgot all about predicting which team would win.
Maybe that’s why the team didn’t win because “schröte” was so slow getting around to thinking about which team would win.
A very disappointing fact for “Schröte” fans. Then to top it off “Schröte” got plastered too, and so I think this could be the end of his career as a turtle reporter and forecaster, because he didn’t concentrate on his job and let emotions & alcohol take over.

But other countries can rejoice in the fan fair on the weekend with the climax of which team will win, and of course my guy will be watching glued to the TV set watching the game as a discerning living room spectator.

But I wonder will “Schröte” the turtle predict which team will win? I am sitting on the edge of my chair waiting patiently for his prediction. I love soccer and it’s turtle!

Bedroom Blues

Another bedroom problem has been brought to my attention that can dampen the thoughts of romance in the bedroom and it’s not the “I have a headache” either but a thing that can turn your attention somewhere else.

The good’ol book is said to bring this on the “not tonight dear – I’m reading a good book and don’t want to be interrupted because I am at the best part”. Who ever thought that a book could cause arguments in the bedroom?

I never thought of that aspect before now. Thank you scientist for pointing this out to me!

People always say no one reads anymore or is everyone secretly reading at home in their bedrooms? There by their nightstand is a pile of books just waiting to be read and so their partner is left alone to ponder about life or join the club and start reading too.

Yes, reading can enrich your brain, but it is said that most books read by gals are the romantic sort and have nothing to do with reality and what I found disturbing was that I don’t know what guys read. Though I do have an inkling for what could interest them and I am sure they would say it is cultivated literature expanding their horizons with knowledge that will stay with them for eternity. Sounds good but I somehow doubt it.

It mentioned that because the guy or gal or maybe both are reading they don’t have time for each other – oh the bedroom blues!!!

Maybe they should have a set reading time and then they would have time for each other and could program it in the handy cell phone so they don’t forget that – oh , today’s Tuesday evening and that means no book… bad news if one of you is ill. Then well, I guess it’s back to reading a good book.

But books aren’t the only distractions, there’s the TV set that shouldn’t be in the room or there’s the pile of magazines that will never get read. Plus, the other modern distractions like the computer or cell phone.

What happened to the days when the bedroom was the bedroom for peace and quiet and not an entertainment room like the living room? Those days are over and modern times have invaded our peacefulness… oh, this makes me sad!

You see all those great pictures of how a bedroom should look but it is crammed full of things and so how can anyone relax or even think about taking the time for each other?

I ask those designers do they have bedroom blues because of the so many distractions or is it that no one cares anymore about each other and is too caught up with themselves? Any ideas…..

I could ponder on this topic for ages and maybe not come-up with an answer, but I do think it is good to take time for each other and not too forget that’s why you are together.

Sensational Soccer

Well, since the European Soccer championship has started my world with my guy has changed. He is now living in another world and that is “Soccer”! I personally haven’t anything against the game even though I do not see what is so exciting about a bunch of guys running after a ball.

There seems to be this person called a referee who acts like a mom at a playground keeping an eye on the kids and seeing to it that they behave themselves and when some guy does something wrong he is shown a yellow card – sort of like a mom scolding him for not playing fairly and if some guy goes too far and does something that he really shouldn’t do then “mom” comes along and shows a red card meaning: no more playing on this playground anymore!

Those “mom’s” can be really tough cookies and don’t put up with any nonsense either. I guess that’s what their paid for-right???

Those guys run after that ball and the crowd roars in the hopefulness that their team will score a goal and even at my place my guy and his friends are the same and seem to be sitting on a hot bed of coals whenever their favorite team gets close to their goal posts and somehow they seem to forget that they are at home and not at the soccer stadium and scream and holler all sorts of stuff at the TV as if those guys playing can hear them. And I just sit there in amazement watching the whole ordeal, and only to be reminded that I don’t understand the intricacies of this sport.

Ok, the good bit is that some of those players don’t look too bad from my point of view and my gal friends think the same too and so we started watching the game so we can watch the guys and who cares about who wins – the important thing for us is -> good looking guys!!

But I am brought back to reality by my guy reminding me that this is serious stuff and not to be taken lightly because I informed my guy that me and my gal friends have decided to watch a couple of games ourselves and naturally without our guys around, so we can have our fun too. Though you do need a bit of patience because I find the games start out rather slow and it takes awhile before there is some real action and the guys show their real talent. But it can be worth the wait.

Gals enjoy the Euro soccer championship and all those wonderful looking legs running up and down the soccer field!

World Earth Day April 22, 2012

World Earth Day is a day to make you aware of what is happening to the earth.

This is a good idea but why only on this day?

People should think about the environment everyday and not just for a couple of hours on a specific day. If people practiced saving energy and natural recourses and thought about how much water, gas, energy or other things that they use throughout their day we wouldn’t need to be reminded once a year that the earth’s resources are slowly but defiantly dwindling away.

Society seems to have gotten so greedy that they only think about themselves and what they need and not on the next generations to come and will there be anything left for those generations too?

There are so many ways a household can make their mark on the environment but are they willing to and do they maybe want to do without? This I doubt very much and so there you go the problem with the environment.

I myself can see the changes in the world around me that are caused from waste. Look at the oceans with all the plastic floating around in it and this being ingested by fish or they get tangled up in it and die. But as many think -> who cares; out of sight out of mind!

Or why does everyone have to own so many cars and then they all wonder -> why is there a gas shortage and prices are rising. Really now folks get real!

Or do you really need to watch TV 24/7 because the television set consumes a lot of energy and you have to pay for the electricity too. Maybe, ever thought of a TV free day or reading a book that could stimulate the mind as an alternative.

Another one is what ever happened to the good’ol clothes line where you hung your clothes out to dry and the wind and the sun dried them and they smelled good too and all that without the need of an electric dryer. The wonders of nature can be fascinating!!

There are thousands of ways that people can help out and still enjoy life. It is just a matter of starting to change your life style and not always procrastinate and say that I’ll start that tomorrow because you know as well as I do “Tomorrow never comes”

Think about what you can do and maybe you will feel better about yourself by doing your bit for the earth!
