Puttering Around………

I got to thinking this morning how it always rains when you take a couple of days off from work …… Why is that?????
I somehow think the clouds and weather have a direct connection to the management department and plan together that, if I have off it should rain, so that they don’t feel so bad because they have to work…… An interesting theory ……. Don’t you think?

Well, I got this wiz bang idea to clean a room and hoe out the junk and I managed!!! Believe me it wasn’t easy, but now all the junk is in the hallway, but I must say the other room looks good!! And because it is raining outside, I can’t put the stuff outside either for awhile; while I sort the other stuff out!!! Bad luck somehow..

I really wasn’t planning on sorting stuff out; I wanted to be outside enjoying the summer weather and showing off my summer wardrobe, but “NO” it has to rain!!

Back to puttering around, sitting here thinking about it my grandmother was always “puttering around” the house, and when I asked her “What are you doing?” She would answer “puttering around”. Though I never understood it really… It was like she moved things around the house or straightened things up on the coffee table. I know the word “puttering around” is a bit dated, but I like the word, because you can do 20 things at once with no worries because you are “puttering around”…

So I’ll stick to the word “puttering around”, and since I started writing this; I’ve stopped to unload the washing machine, talked on the phone to a friend come back to write a bit more here, stopped again for a cup of coffee, looked at the newspaper. Wrote a bit more here, looked at the stuff in the hallway and I’ll “putter around” some more too.

To be honest “puttering around” on a rainy day isn’t that bad at all, as long as you have something to “putter around”…..
The thought is: When someone asks you “What did you do at home all day?” Your answer: “I was puttering around.”

And the person that asked that question won’t have the slightest idea of what you are talking about….

Enjoy “Puttering Around”!!!

What to Wear??

That is always a good question for us gals…What to wear or better said: What should I wear when I go out after? My closet is crammed full with fashionable items or at least in my eyes…. Maybe I should get my eyes checked then get back to you…..

But the 2015 summer fashion season has just begun and there are thousands of tips tricks and new or so they say styles out there just waiting for me. I want to be fashionable!! Though I must be honest some look the same as last summer only the price has changed and the color for 2015.

Now being a gal of frugal means I always take a closer look at all those great things on offer before making that all important decision as to what to buy for summer 2015. I have this dilemma every year and somehow it always seems to creep-up on me unexpectedly without warning… I am sure some of you gals out there know what I am talking about??? There is the new pair or pairs of sandals, maybe a dress or two, shorts, tops, bathing suits, and so forth…. Plus, the matching make-up too.
Summers can be stressful!!

But as a gal who wants to be somewhat trendy I started taking a closer look at the fashion pages online and discovered some things that I already own, and that is for years now… So, I surfed a bit more only to be confronted again with things that I already own…. Okay the color is different, but the style is the same!! There you go…. A major problem is brewing and the season isn’t even in full swing yet!!!

Of course I could always get advice from friends or other people, but what they like isn’t always what I like and how do you tell your friends that you don’t like what they have picked out without hurting their feelings??? I am sure you can relate to that…..

Plus, I need a bank loan to buy all that stuff… Sandals: $ 600.00, Shorts: $ 245.00, Hat: $ 165.00, Dress: $95.00 (cheap…. Buy 2), and last but not least a summer sweater for $ 308.00 …… And I still don’t have a bathing suit and the worst part is now there is no money left over for my summer vacation….. But I have expensive clothes and I hope everyone will notice that I paid a small fortune for them too!!!! Please note the labels, so you know that I am a cool person!! Coolness here I come…..

Though maybe I could do without the hat and wear my hat from last year…. Do you think anyone would notice???? Probably not, so I’ll take the chance and wear it this year too. I feel better already by saving a bit of money…… But still the thought is lingering in the back of my mind…. I want to go on vacation, so it is either cool clothes or a cool vacation……. I think I have to think about this before I decide on looking cool or visiting a cool place….

No hasty decisions ….. Think about it!!

Guys and Gals Are We Looking Good?

Everyone knows that looking good is really important but I bet you never thought about what that guy or gal thinks about what you are wearing. Now this tiny fact seems to be overlooked and so I thought I would highlight and interpret some of the great fashion looks that drive the other person to look at you….. Well, how to put it nicely???? Thinks what you have on is simply ugly…. But do they say that to your face or just keep their opinion to themselves???

As I am in a mood today…Good mood 😉 so I thought I would start with the blunders of what guys wear.

Spray-on suntans – Oh, please. Those look really bad or are they trying to look like a pumpkin… the color isn’t too far off.

Trousers from …. What year was it with the elastic ankles? Great if you are living where there are a lot of flies say in the Tundra or such an area but otherwise… Naja, they really don’t do anything for the wearer… Sorry

Jeans that look like you are carrying your toilet round with you. They are sooooo baggy that it looks like the wearer has a diaper on… Please, guys there are nicer jeans around then those.

The tourist looks … What you ask??? Socks with sandals… That is like wearing a sign around your neck saying “Hey I am on vacation here”! Clean your toe nails and wear real sandals, because it looks a lot better.

Naturally there are a couple of more but, I thought you could think about them yourself without my help here..

Now gals, I don’t want to leave us out here either in the not looking good club.

Now a real mistake is chipped nail polish or is that a new fashion statement. It only takes a couple of minutes to remove the chipped polish and … Bingo your nails look better.

Hair extensions that are made of plastic hair… look cheap and are cheap. Wouldn’t it be better to just leave your hair the way it is and plus then you can save your money for a real new hair cut that looks good.

Track suits… once they were only worn at the gym or at home, but now…. They are everywhere. What happened to our sense of fashion???

The real disaster…. Smudged mascara and make-up…. Oh, now that really doesn’t do anything for your looks does it???

I have taken heed since I noted these things and promised myself to watch out about how I look… I don’t want to land up in a bad fashion & bad hair category nor do I want my guy to land there either. Oh the perils of wanting to look good!

Married on Mars

Being married and living on Mars may not be such a bad idea if you want to get away from the crowds but it could be a bit of a challenge for the nerves….. Don’t you think???

So it is said that there is someone out there looking for a happy couple that can get along with each other for a long time in a confined space…. How long is long and what is a confined space?????

I am not sure if I would do something like that. To be honest I have a good relationship with my guy but being cooped-up with him in a small space for a long time could change my view of him and maybe what he thinks of me too. That I can be sure of!!!
No more days out with friends and family or going to the office… A good point but then again the office isn’t that bad either.

Ok, I can see it now my guy and me have signed –up and are the couple… we are ecstatic; at least in the beginning because everything is new and seems great and then like everything is ( sounds sooo demoting) everyday life hits. Who is going to clean – not me! I could see this as an extended vacation… But as experience has it; my guy wouldn’t win the “Housekeeper of the year award”, so I’m back where I started from on earth….. I’m disappointed and haven’t even left home yet!!

Though the dehydrated meals are easy to prepare and my guy can do the job!! And I know there won’t be any burnt meals… the wonders of science!! Life at its finest… But to be honest that sort of food is disgusting, and there are no fresh fruits or veggies. Plus, what about a good glass of wine with the meal???
No problem, just whip out the plastic pack of wine and there you go .. your romantic meal for two while floating in space. I think candles could be pushing it a bit and may cause a fire, so I guess you have them on a screen, so to give you a feeling of a romantic dinner while trying not to lose your meal.

Somehow just writing that bit I am starting to feel that life would be a bit boring and sooner or later I am 100% sure you would get on each other’s nerves and then what??????? There’s probably some rest stop on the way where you can stop off for a coffee and stretch your legs… isn’t there??? You know; remember the cartoon program( mature readers will remember this) the family that lived in Space, well maybe it would be like that and you just jet around town meet friends and so on. So you are only confined with your guy or gal for a short period of time.

Because if not and things don’t go as planned …. Is there the outer space divorce kit??? Just pull off at the next planet for a consultation and we can help you for only $1999.99 without the planetary sales tax.

But on the other hand, we could have a great time together and explore the solar system and get to know each other again and enjoy the journey and stop off at a local plant to check out what is going on there and see what the locals are up too, and maybe they would invite us in for a coffee and a chat…. Also not a bad idea?????
Plus, I am sure there is the shopping mall planet where I hopefully can get some good bargains on shoes and handbags, so I’ll put this on my list of places to visit while we are out there.

My guy will surely want to pop by the car dealer’s planet to check out the latest models and maybe pick-up a deal….. Is the space craft big enough for all our stuff that we buy along the way???

One thing is for sure…. I would bring my camera along to take some picture for the family photo album and so when I got back I could have a good’ol look at my pictures with my friends and be the envy of the neighborhood.

So the lucky couple out there who is planning this journey; please don’t forget us and send a postcard… You know our address!

My Health as a Woman

My health is good or at least I thought that until I started reading all the online articles in various newspapers from around the world which informed me about various symptoms and the cures.

Firstly, as a women we go through those monthly horror trips when we have our –as I like to put it “off days” (sounds better than mood swings or PMT) They made it sound as if every women in the world turned into an old hag and that all women are in bad moods- now that they informed me I can do something about it- I need to think now….
I never knew before reading that stuff that I had those problems but now that I do.. I feel that some things have to change – But what ???? I could see it now those bad mood hormones creeping up on me and saying “it’s time to be in a bad mood” – so I quickly stopped reading the article, because I know now that I am caught up in the monthly horror trip. OMG the thought of the monthly horror trip and I’m not prepared…. Help me I’m a women with problems !!!!

Then there was the article about lying about your age and if you do some jokers can take a peek at your brain and tell you exactly how old you are. Those guys are real party poopers!!
I don’t always want to tell everybody exactly how old I am and when someone gives me a nice complement saying you look younger than I say “Thank-you”. Why should I say – “well, if you want the truth; I’m over the hill and feel like s&%t and my brain is old and I am not sure if I remember what day it is today.” There you have it in a nut shell and makes me feel crappy!!!
I want to be young, so hey I knock a couple of years off my age and I feel great and I’m not hurting a soul. Plus, years ago everyone knew that women lied about their age and it was unthought-of to say how old you really were nor was it polite to ask that dangerous question “How old are you?” What’s happening to the fun of being a women ???

Now my next problem that I really didn’t know about was that I shouldn’t eat egg yolks. I love eggs and I am still around after eating lots of them – I better go to the doctors this afternoon and have my lungs x-rayed to see if they have turned yellow from all the eggs that I have eaten throughout the years.
It seems that anything that you enjoy eating or drinking is bad for you. Like years ago. First it was ok to drink a glass of red wine a day and then it wasn’t now it is ….. Does anyone really know what is going on???? But I can be happy there are still some veggies around that are good for you, or at least I hope so.
What can I eat????

I will have to make a visit to the grocery store after and with my magnify glass read all the fine print on the packages to see that I don’t ingest some substance that could cause something in my system.

OHHHH food – I love it and want to eat it!!!

Now that I have gotten all these problems off my chest I think I will go out in my bad mood and lie about my age, and buy some eggs and enjoy a good unhealthy omelet! Thank you internet for telling me all about those problems and I am still alive and HEALTHY…..

Camping memories

Summer is slowly coming to an end and the days are getting shorter and that got me to thinking about my times as a kid when I used to camp-out in the back yard in my pup tent with my friends. Those were the days.. Three girls and a Great Dane in a three man tent!

There we were professional campers who knew how to set-up such a tent and as 10 year olds we needed all the right stuff too in the tent. Plenty to eat and drink and of course it wasn’t healthy; a supply of good books and flashlights, and there we were ready for adventure that would come our way.

We were always a bit leery of a thunder storm because we always thought we may end up like one of those cartoon characters on TV who were charcoaled and their hair was standing on ends so, if there was any chance of a storm we darted for the house and camped inside…. Not as fun as outside because inside in the den my parents could see what we were up too and say when to turn the lights out. They were real party poopers!!!
Parents never seemed to understand the adventure in our camping and nor do I now when I think back on it.

Outside in the backyard in our tent exposed to the elements and to all the dangerous creatures that were lurking around in the dark just waiting to attack our tent. Those were scary times and then the owl made a noise and that made you almost jump out of your skin with fear, because we had been reading scary stories with our flashlights. Plus Cesar was there to protect us from the perils that were out there that we couldn’t see so never had to fear about the owl attacking our tent.

Once we got settled in under the blankets and Cesar lying at our feet waiting patiently for us to fall asleep and then he would creep under the blankets and push us all out from under them and we would wake up freezing in the morning while he was warm and sound asleep under the blankets. Cesar loved camping with us and as soon as he saw the tent he was the first one in it and you couldn’t get him out of it either. He knew a good thing!!!

It was sometimes a bit damp when it started to rain because the tent would leak if you accidentally touched the side of it and there I would lay with water dripping on me or I woke up damp because I touch the tent while I was asleep.

Those were great times and they are great memories too but then we got older and somehow camping in a little green tent with Cesar had lost its appeal and we wanted to be gown-up and not some babies who slept in the backyard in a tent. Cesar was sad too when we didn’t want to camp with him anymore because I know he loved the times that we all spent together in the little tent and how many times it collapsed because Cesar forgot he was in the tent an stood up taking the tent with him and we would scream at him for ruining our fun and he would just stand there wagging his tail as if to say “I want some fun too.”

Enjoy the last of the summer because it seems to be almost over for the year!

Out of office – no reply

That’s the sentence I love to write when I know that I am going on vacation and won’t be in the office for the next two weeks, so I want to tell the world that I am not sitting at my desk waiting for your email. So leave me alone!

But sometimes people forget to change the message and there you are sending them an important business email only to receive an answer that says “out of office on vacation”. Then I hate that sentence because I know they are back at work and sitting at their desk and probably drinking coffee and reading the newspaper or showing everyone their vacation photos.

But then there are those who forget that little message and off I go and write my email containing all that important stuff and after a couple of days waiting and still no reply; I decide to give that person a call and a polite PA will answer the phone and say “I’m sorry but they are on vacation for the next 2 weeks.” I could explode in such cases because it is something important and I need an answer. They don’t like me …..or anyone else for that matter – so I don’t feel so bad now.

Though I know vacations are important too but one mustn’t forget to tell some other folks too who may need to know that information. Though I will admit I would never call anyone when they are on vacation. That would be a nightmare in itself. There you are having a great time on the beach or wherever and all of a sudden your cell phones rings to tell you that you have emails to answer. The day is ruined!!

I read that a lot of bosses expect their employees to be on call on vacation if anything important pops-up. What’s important I ask? Because, what is important to one person isn’t always important to another person and I would not want my boss sending me emails about irrelevant information just so that I should answer them.

I wonder how many people in the world ignore those sorts of emails and get on enjoying their vacation instead of thinking about work? I bet there are quite a few.

Enjoy your “out of office” time and then there’s no reason to reply.

Passing away of a loved one with a coffee in your hand!

I just read the craziest or the most tasteless thing- depending on how you see it. A funeral home plans to open a coffee shop on its premises in a room next to where people are morning the passing away of their loved one.

I would not want to work in that coffee shop and be in a room next to where someone is in a coffin waiting for their burial. It seems everyone is only out to make money and not do anything for anyone else, especially grieving relatives. Funerals cost enough and I am sure that funeral home can afford to give the grieving souls something to drink for the prices they charge.

There is the person in their coffin and if they only knew that all their relatives would be sitting there and listening to the service with a cappuccino in a paper cup in their hands; I am sure if the person in the coffin could- they would sit-up and say “Hey, show a little respect for me and forget the dam coffee for a while!” because once the coffee is there then comes the cell phone for the next distraction to text your friends to say –I’m having a coffee a at a funeral, and it tastes good too.

Or during the service someone decides to get up and get themselves a cup of coffee not even realizing what they are doing but only thinking about the coffee and forgetting about the service for the person who has passed away.
I feel sorry for the person in the coffin!

Or another problem could arise from such nonsense- The pole bearers are standing around outside having a coffee and a cigarette and forget all about their job that they have to do and then someone has to find them and get them to come inside and do their job.

At least someone will have a job even if it is in a funeral home. So I guess that is good, because otherwise I cannot think of one good reason for the coffee shop to be there!

The world seems to be getting crazier and crazier. Ok, I accept the online condolence book, where everyone can write something and the memories are kept alive online for eternity.

What happed to the saying you should respect the dead? It seems like always those words or thoughts do not come into the scene anymore- only I want to make cash even if the people are grieving!

I guess everyone has to decide for themselves now-a-days how funerals should be arranged. I can only say right now- when my time comes I do not what my friends or family there looking at me with a paper cup of coffee in their hand!

Respect your loved ones when they pass away and forget about your coffee for a few hours.

Warm Weather and Winter Fashion

Well, summer is here and we can enjoy warm days on the beach and sit back and relax. So one thinks! Retailers have other thoughts in their minds like –WINTER

There I was the other day strolling down the street only to see in a store window winter apparel, by this I mean winter coats, sweaters and the lot. Whatever happened too cold weather fashions being sold when the weather starts to get cold? Do retailers know what the real calendar seasons are or do they have any idea about what sort of weather is outside? I doubt it

Now-a-days it seems that every season starts months before in stores and when the calendar season is there then you can forget about buying the seasons fashions because it is sold out.
I am not going to look for a winter coat when I could be enjoying the warm weather outside. Plus the thought alone makes me shiver…. I see snowflakes before my eyes and the sun is shining. Where’s my good weather app?

And to top it off, if I buy a winter coat now it may be out of fashion by the time the cold weather starts, so then I need to buy a new one to keep-up with the fashion trends. Though I will admit I am not always a “must have” person but more of “what I like” and not main stream.

The troubles of women’s fashion!!!

Ok, there’s a positive side to all this. All the summer apparel is on sale and if you are lucky- I stress LUCKY you may find some great bargains!! My life is saved… As a gal who loves to shop I wonder the stores in search of the perfect summer outfit and have you ever noticed that -> off to the sales you go with a fist full of cash and with the hope of finding that top, dress or pair of shoes that you wanted and you enter the store and maneuver your way through the crowds only to be disappointed by the fact that all those great bargains are not in your size.

The frustration of sales!!

But luck was on my side and I actually bought 1 item that I was looking for and saved a fortune. I love sales!!

A small request to all retailers… Please wait for fall for the winter fashions and not put it in the store window when it’s 80°F outside, because no one in their right mind will buy a winter coat to wear to the beach in the summer. Or am I mistaken????
