what to do at my desk????

There you have it, the question of all questions……sitting at your desk and not knowing what to do or better to say there is nothing to do….. except look out the window, rearrange what’s on your desk look at what you rearranged and maybe put the things back to where they were before…… OMG
I am at perils with myself as to what to do at the moment ….nothing to do but to try to look busy when I’m not busy…… please tell me how to look busy when I am not busy…..I need answers….
How many of you out there feel the same way I do….what to do next?????
Here I am glued to my office chair unable to move just staring out the window and watch the world go by…. time is ticking so slowly……tick, tick, tick…….
Let time tick on the sun is setting and the day is coming to an end ….so everyone out there with nothing to do….let’s all try to look busy and our day will go faster !
Have fun at your desk with whatever you are doing!

What’s new in the office or not????

Just the other day I was talking to a friend of mine who attended a seminar about organizing your priorities in the office better and managing yourself…… “WOW”… I thought and thought I probably had missed something really new and innovative, because that is the utmost importance to be innovative and full of new ideas and systems to create the modern working office… or so is said.

Well, as you can imagine, my friend started to tell me all about these exciting new ideas, and I was mesmerized by the ideas, especially the one on using those sticky bright reminder stickers.. you know those sticker things that come in various colors, sizes and shapes that you can stick just about everywhere….

Those sticky little things are supposed to be the newest craze for organizing my projects and other things in my day or week….. Just hearing that I almost fell off my chair, because I have been using those sticky things for years, but apparently this is new and I didn’t know it!!!

Though the conversation about those sticky little things did get me curious about how are they used nowadays…. Answer…. The same as years ago… I was somewhat disappointed to hear that. Though I asked my friend did they discuss and analyses what do you do when the sticky back bit isn’t sticky anymore…. As you can image they left that bit out and seems to me if I was there at the seminar; I would have been highly disappointed not to learn what to do if those things lose their stickiness.

Just image there you are in your office organizing the next few days on a project and want to move around those sticky things and then all of a sudden a couple of them have fallen on the floor because the adhesive on the back is worn-out… is my project ruined or can I take a few new one’s of those things??? I mean really there at my feet are the most import colors of my project and the only ones left sticking are the other ones that aren’t really significant…. OMG!!!

Plus, will anyone on my team notice that I replaced the old sticky ones with new one’s…. This could put the project on hold until we have a meeting to decide: what is the next step to take with those sticky things, and as you all know…Time is money at work!

And to be honest… I really need to look into this because I have a project on the go and there are those sticky things stuck on the paper so that you notice certain things… Firstly, tomorrow morning I will have a meeting and discuss this all important issue and maybe we will need a few more of those sticky things to point out the important fact that those sticky things are still important and still modern….

Enjoy your days at the office and remember those sticky little things are in again!

Deodorants

This is probably a product that lots of people buy, but have you ever thought about what was written about the product and how it is going to give you a whole new experience in life….. Deodorant here I come!!!

I recently started reading the ads for deodorants and what the companies wrote about the product promising me an earth moving experience if I buy their product….. The question is “ What to buy”??….. Right??????

There is the product that promise no white residue, so that I can wear dark clothing fearlessly….. I never was in fear before when I wore dark clothes and I used a different brand of deodorant ……. Ohha…. Trouble is probably brewing and tomorrow should I decide to wear something dark colored to work, then for sure I could see something on the inside of the garment that I will be wearing. But does anyone see that besides me???? At least no one up to now has said anything to me about “white residue” and I have never worried about it before…. Time to start worrying (I guess)

Plus, the thought of getting caught for a day or two away from home…. Now that gives me a real feeling of protection though from what I am not too sure, but with the advanced technology one defiantly has nothing to fear. Somehow I have never seen technology in my deodorant; okay maybe in the research sure, but in the little container… never!!!
What does “technology” look like in a deodorant stick or spray??? Anyone out there know?????

Then there is the one that is an essential component for the handbag …. What is that, a spare part for my car or what??? And it will help me when I am on the run, so that I won’t asphyxiate everyone around me , because I forgot to apply this product at 10 minute intervals throughout my working day… Keep your distance; I may have body odor.

Everything is also made to keep me dry and smelling great for days…. What happened to washing / showing yourself daily and wearing clean clothes…. Again I am missing something. I was brought-up that you showered daily and put on clean clothes and undergarments.

Somehow that 48 hour bit seems a bit scary to me, but then again technology is in the product and that is what counts!

Wonderful Weekdays

Week days come and go but isn’t each day a special day in the week and not just a name? Well, I think so. Even if you didn’t ask me.

Days come and go the same as weeks and years. A week has just about ended and we are almost at the end of the second month in 2015…. But what about those days of the week that come and go and we only remember that it was one of those days…. Or was it a special day??? It could have been but no one noticed it. There seems to be a day for everything thing nowadays and I just can’t seem to keep up with them all… I have a good memory (My brain is still working….. Thank goodness!! I was getting a bit worried) But do I really need to know all those days???

Years ago there weren’t so many just the usual ones and that was it. Normally for some famous person or such. Now there is the coffee day, dog day, and so forth… My list could be from my house and probably span around the globe if I looked up what each day stood for…. To be honest I won’t; I’ll leave that job for someone else to do. Thank you, and when you are finished please let me know the exact number.

I have taken this issue to another dimension because the thought started the other day while I was at the office and contemplating …. I love to do that (but don’t tell anyone!!). There are seven days in the week, maybe there should be more, but I am happy with seven. If you want more days please do not complain to me about it because it isn’t my department….. Go to the – I need more days department where whoever is in charge may be able to help you. Though I do have my doubts about that!!!

Days could be like this:

Serious Saturdays – I mean really I am always serious on this day, no monkeying around just serious housework (that I dislike doing…. And maybe some of you out there too feel the same way I do???)This is a job that has to be tackled with the seriousness of being well organized and scheduled. Which means do not bother me until my multi-organized household chore schedule has been completed…. How quick I am depends on who phones first and where should we meet-up for a cup of coffee…. Plus, what do I want to clean today??? Always a somewhat moving question that boggles my brain each time I ask myself that question…. Though sometimes, I do have to be careful that I don’t argue with myself about what I should do first. The problems of serious Saturdays.

Sentimental Sundays – Sundays seem to be a great day to be sentimental; you can sit back and take it easy and reminisce about all sorts of things and dream about the good’ol days or something else that occupies your mind and just let your thoughts wander to all those pleasant times that took place in your life. A must in my book… we need some pleasantries in our life and not always worries, so maybe being sentimental could help. There are so many pleasant things that have happened in my life and they are great to think about and always bring a smile to my face…

Mellow Mondays – Oh, the beginning of the week again and I have to go to the office… Mondays are a day where thoughts should be collected, strategies may be planned and so forth… being concentrated and mellow makes it so much easier to deal with all that stuff instead of panicking because it is Monday. Mondays have been around for years and will be, so why not take the day in stride instead of dreading it????

Tension on Tuesdays – The week is here and now I really need to start working… getting those emails answered, writing that report… the deadline is approaching and I still have to attend a meeting… that does put a bit of tension in the day, but hey it is Tuesday and it is a day when tension is in the air.

Working Wednesdays – This is a day that one should be the most productive… At least that is what I read once. Though to be honest I am a bit skeptical about that theory. I work on all the other days too. I know there are the scales to assess how much you have achieved and how productive a person is…. Actually, I recently tried the email theory… only answer emails once every 3 or 4 hours….. Well, believe me if you want stress in your life do that!!!!! Those folks who sent me emails wanted answers and not wait half a day for a reply…. Sorry, but that theory does not work in my job!!

Tempting Thursdays – Now Thursdays are actually the day to prepare for the weekend, because everywhere you can read about what is going on where you live, etc…. That alone always makes me start thinking about what should I do on the weekend??? It can be so tempting…. Shopping (a gals favorite pastime), a movie, meet friends, or watch TV…. I have to decide today before it is too late and all the options to do something are not there anymore tomorrow…… Look out world … I am going to plan something for the weekend !!!!!

Frustrating Fridays – A day of deadlines and I hope that everyone else in the office has met the deadline too, or else S… will hit the fan and I do not want to be party to that event! I know some people enjoy that sort of thing but not me…. It seems like lots of people are frustrated on Fridays not only because of work… I believe it is a lack of planning that they could have done on Temping Thursdays that would have avoided the frustration on Fridays.

Whatever day it is make the best of it and enjoy it!

Crossword Puzzle…

Did you know that the good ‘ol crossword puzzle is a 100 years old or at least that’s what I read. Has it been around that long???

I can remember my gran always doing those in the newspaper or those books that you could buy filled with those puzzles and she would sit there for hours or at least it seemed like it and she would do those puzzles. Whether she had the right word or not I’ll never know. Then my mom started doing them when she was bored… a great time killer back then before the internet , and it seems that people are still doing them, maybe it’s something that will last forever and not get lost in the hordes of game apps.

Crossword puzzles are fun and it always makes me think and try to find out which word belongs in the space and then connect it with the other words… Guessing at its finest!! Sometimes I haven’t the faintest idea what word they are looking for, but I keep on trying… my brain needs to know more words!!!!

It is unbelievable how many words you can store in your brain and remember how to spell them correctly too.. Somewhat of a challenge but again I’d don’t use a spelling app… good’ol memory at work!!! Just amazing if you ask me.

Those folks who make-up those crossword puzzles must take a lot of time to make them and how many people are making them??? That I would like to know… Any answers out there?? Plus, crosswords are in so many different languages too.. WOW!!! And how long do they spend on making each crossword puzzle, because some are easy and others are very difficult. Or is everything computerized today and the newspaper folks just press a few keys and a crossword puzzle is created with the crossword puzzle software??? So many unanswered questions… I need to call my local newspaper for an answer.

That’s enough about crossword puzzles, because I need to do the one in today’s paper now.

Enjoy your crossword puzzle today!

Perfect Day Today?

The perfect day has finally arrived and we can now all enjoy it if you have enough time and don’t work otherwise I don’t think the perfect day would work??? Or am I missing something here….

In the perfect day you only have about 36 minutes for work, so how do I manage a perfect day when I have to work 8-10 hours a day???………The answer is easy; fit this into your day and you will have a perfect day.

So my perfect day in a week would be as follows:

Ok, forget taking a shower and getting dressed after I get-up because that just doesn’t seem to fit into the plan for a perfect day, so I’ll go to work in my pj’s( I guess). Note: the scientist seemed to forget that people normally get cleaned up before they leave the house… Where were their brains???? That question you can answer yourself. Thank you

Well, I do have time for breakfast, say about 15 minutes and then I’m out of here and on my way to work. Another problem there is only 33 minutes a day allotted to commuting. Now what???? I feel my day may not be sooooo perfect now! But I am sure if I leave out something else I will be able to have a perfect day. But all the other stuff in a perfect day is fun too…. I want a perfect day!!!!

Finally at work now I have 48 minutes for my computer, so I’ll have to stretch this out over the day otherwise I may not look busy. So, I think I will make a couple of calls to my friends and so that gives me about 58 minutes divided by 3 and so each for my friends get 19.33 minutes of my time. I better set the timer so I don’t go over 19.33 minutes. I hope my friends won’t get upset??? But then again they want to have a perfect day too….

Now that I have called all my friends I have 78 minutes to relax and think about what I can do the rest of my perfect day. But the sad part now is none of my friends have time to meet-up this afternoon because we could spend a whole 82 minutes together on a normal perfect day. Where’s my perfect day?????????

But I could have a little nap at my desk- I have 46 minutes to shut my eyes. Though with this perfect day I still haven’t done any work and when the boss comes into my office then it will definitely NOT BE A PERFECT DAY!!!

I still haven’t had a perfect day at work, but instead I have gotten some strange looks and asked by my colleagues at work “Why am I still in my pj’s” – I said today is a perfect day and there is no time for getting dressed in a perfect day. I am not sure if my answer satisfied them or they just thought that I had gone bonkers. I would tend to think the latter that I had gone bonkers!

Ah, forget work I’ll just go home and maybe go shopping there I have 58 minutes.. I better be quick or else I won’t be able to fit all my shopping into my perfect day. I am starting to feel tired again but since I used up my nap time earlier I have no more time for relaxing…..I’m starting to feel stressed out… what should I dooooo????

I’ll just go home and putter around the house for 47 minutes and then watch some TV until my guy comes home and then I have 50 minutes to whip us up a great meal. I hope I can manage that job??? Great thing about a perfect day there is no time left for arguing about something. Now that does make for a perfect day.

The highlight of a perfect day is that you have 106 minutes for you partner. Now that’s something or??? What you do in that time is up to you. I know what I would do and timing is of the essences. Don’t want to ruin a perfect day… eh??????

Enjoy your perfect day where ever you are in the world and don’t forget to keep an eye on the clock or else you won’t have that perfect day…. Enjoy yourself!!

Multi Tasking Catastrophe

My day is now ruined by the multi tasking news report that men are better at it than us gals….. I’m sunk!! Whoever would have dreamed that guys would overtake us gals at our favorite thing – multi tasking?

Well, I surely never dreamed that the day would come when it would be announced that guys are better than us gals at multitasking. I have been multitasking for years with the household and at work and wherever else I need too. Have guys been secretly taking notes so that they can copy the way we manage our time by doing a couple of things at once????

I bet I know how it started… at least in my house. My guy is hiding behind the newspaper pretending that he is reading it and saying to me when I ask him “can you help me?” , but what do/did I hear “sorry, honey I’m busy reading the newspaper.” Right, now I know he was there taking notes studying the way I multitasked around the house and now after a couple of years has collected enough information to be able to multitask better than me.

Ok, this does not hold true around our place and I would guess he will be multitasking out in the garage- fiddling around with the car drinking a beer and chatting with one of his buddies…. Multitasking at its finest – Right guys???? Whereas, I am cleaning the house loading the washing machine and then the dishwasher… as my guy would say you are better at multitasking in the house then I am!!!

Now the work issue of multitasking could be that my guy coworkers have been taking notes too to try to figure out just how do we gals multitask at work… though multitasking at work isn’t always a good idea, if you ask me because you may not always accomplish what you want to and it may be be counterproductive too. Then again what is multitasking at work?? Talking on the phone and drinking a coffee or is it being in a boring meeting and listening to the chair speaking and you are playing with your cell phone??? Multitasking at work takes on many forms when I look around my office and so I think I better keep on my toes so that you guys don’t win the multitasking award of 2012 at our office.

I think I will look into this guy thing that guys can multitask better than us gals this weekend because I as a gal do not want to lose the reputation of not being able to multitask …. I could cry at the thought… though my guy could take over my multitasking at home and I could then spend some more time multitasking with my friends over a coffee and a good chat.

Enjoy your multitasking !!!

Got a Business Card?

Business cards are great things for business people because it helps everyone know how to contact you and for which company you work for. Those wonderful little cards have been around for years and somehow we always seem to have tons of them and never really remember who gave them to us.

I am sunk in the world of business cards – HELP ME!!!

But times are changing in the world now and of course we still rely on the business card and love to hand them out to whoever is around. They seem to come in all colors and with different print or weight of paper, and believe me with weight that can turn into a problem. The business card blues…

Now-a-days you may want to have a little wagon( remember the sort you had as a kid – red with wheels) to collect your business cards because times are changing and now the cards are going to be made of cement. Naturally with your name and phone number on it and all the other relevant info too.

Because of the material it could be a bit heavy to carry around in your suit pocket or brief case and making you look a bit lop sided when you walk, and this you don’t want to happen at your next important meeting – do you?
But then again maybe you are wearing the new super cement pocket suit which is especially made for those new business cards made out of cement.

Guys – don’t get this suit mixed up with your normal suit because it may look the same but the suit is of a special material so you can carry around your new cement business cards. Some weight training is advisable before you start to wear the suit or else you may have some muscle aches at the end of the day from wear the suit.

I would recommend at least 1 month training, so then you are strong enough to wear the suit and have a pocket full of cement business cards with you.

But if you would prefer the wagon to carry your business cards around in; then there’s the new cement business card wagon tailored to you needs. These wagons are great because they come in all colors and you can choose all the accessories on it just like you would when you buy a new car. In the wagon there is the alphabetical order file system so you don’t get your cards mixed up and there’s the portable drink cooler and retractable desk with computer so no worries when you are out of the office because you have your office with you. Plus too there’s the swivel chair that comes with the set-up, so you never need to worry about where do I sit?

The wonders of an office on wheels….. I want one

This wonderful set-up eases your work load and enables you to easily go on business trips or attend conferences and it’s a real eye-catcher too. And probably your business associates will envy you for having such a set-up.

You wouldn’t want to be at the next board meeting and have someone point at you and say “Where’s your business card wagon?” That could be a real career killer because everyone else is there with their wagon.

The only way to save yourself in that situation is to have your new cement business card handy and say “Do you have one like this?” And when they don’t; then you know you are ahead of the game and ready for promotion!

I want to be the boss!!!

So next time you are planning an important business meeting or trip do not forget your new cement business cards and business card wagon so that you will be the hit of the meeting. Enjoy your next meeting!

Lunchtime

Lunchtime can be a great and informative time. At the cafeteria today I was informed about some great happenings in some gals’ life and when you compared that to my life well, it sounds like my life is really boring.
Where’s the excitement????

If you go the cafeteria it can be a hotbed of gossip and intrigue. Those gals working there know what’s going on in the company and not the CEO. The CEO should talk to those gals to get the lowdown and then would know what is really happening in a company.
So all CEO’S out there don’t hide yourself in those executive lunches get to know the cafeteria of your company that you run because it can be an enlightening and informative experience!

Back to what I wanted to say; there was one gal behind the counter who so nicely gave the room a detailed account of her husband and I do say; if he knew about that there would be trouble to say the least when she got home that evening. But that really got my attention somehow and thought I should hang around a bit longer instead of going for a boring coffee. Plus I had always wondered about her and her life but would never ask.

Well, on Saturday morning her husband – she’s married (she added) he wasn’t going to paint the kitchen for her and if she wanted it done she had to do it herself because he was going to the football game. Basta!! She got a bit up set and said that she said some things that aren’t worth repeating -> I can only imagine. The perils of marriage!!

So, she told him to F!&-off in no terms and started to get the kitchen ready to paint it herself. She doesn’t look like a painter to me but hey what do I know?

Though her husband seemed to cool off a bit and decided to paint the kitchen in the evening after the football game.
She so nicely informed us that that he was wearing his FoL underpants and nothing else because he didn’t want to dirty his clothes. . If he only knew the world knew now what he was wearing while he was painting -> he would leave his wife!

And then the other women working with her so kindly gave a us all a detailed description of how her dog honked all over the carpet – this was really fitting for the cafeteria!
Then she went on to say that she heard that the boss was having an affair with his secretary and that she had first had information so it had to be true.
I thought wow – If he only knew that we all know now; we all may be fired.

Though I doubt that very much. Life can be so interesting at work. You only need to hang out at the right spots at the right time.
Enjoy your next work day and keep your ears open for any exciting news!

Ironing Board Blues

It is an unbelievable fact but there are guys out there in the world who don’t know how to iron. How this can be true is beyond me and I can only say thank heavens I don’t have that problem!

There was a diagram for guys as to how to iron a shirt and I must add the person who wrote the article and designed the picture to go along with it mustn’t have ever ironed in their lives. Who in their right mind uses the edge of the couch for an ironing board?

The thought alone that you could burn yourself with the iron is enough for me to not even think about ironing like that. That journalist should have consulted their mother before writing that article so then they could write the article correctly. Moms always know how to iron.

The problem with the article was that they didn’t tell the guys that they needed: an iron and an ironing board to make the job go easier. These two things can really make ironing easier guys, so if you are going to iron please do it right. We gals have an eye for things and know if a guy is wearing something ironed or not.

Plus a tip for all you guy ironers out there – spray starch can do wonders on a shirt and makes it look good too.

But besides the ironing there seems to be a couple of other areas that guys are struggling to come to grasps with.

Sewing a button on a shirt – didn’t your mother teach you how to do this?

Folding clothes – now here you really need to practice and it doesn’t take too long to fold things correctly once you know how.

And the all fatal problem – Can’t tie a tie -> that is a real catastrophe when a guy can’t do that!

Whatever happened to the home economics classes in high school that taught guys how to do all those things that they need to know to survive in the domestic world. When I was in high school all guys had to learn those things whether they liked it or not! And if you didn’t go to the class you got in trouble and no questions asked.

Maybe they should start some sort of evening school for all those guys who never learned the basics in life. I just don’t understand the world anymore when a guy can’t sew a button on or tie his tie…

That makes me really wonder where are we heading?

So guys if you are having some difficulties with your domestic chores then learn to do them right and learn to tie a tie; which is one of the most important skills in life.
